Kwabena Badu, father of fast-rising Ghanaian musician Yaw Darling, has disclosed that he never wished for his son to be a musician.
Mr. Badu noted that the musician was a good footballer while growing up, and all he wished was for Yaw to be a footballer in the future.
However, life made its own choice for Yaw Darling, making him a musician.
“When I gave birth to him, I thought he would be a footballer. He was really good at football, so I never even thought he would become a musician. Throughout his school days, he played football. I’m happier for him now despite not being a footballer.”

The musician who has been nominated for the Unsung Artiste category for the 26th TGMA lived most of his life with his auntie after the passing of his mother when he was very young.
Mr. Badu further advised his son to be humble and learn from seniors in the industry.
“The advice I can give to my son is he should be careful with friends and take his relationship with God serious and be humble, listen to advice from seniors in the industry and live his life as someone from a humble background.”
