Ghanaian star, Harold Amenyah, has finally revealed the behind-the-scenes secrets (bts) of his much-anticipated wedding.

The wedding, Harold disclosed, was completely confidential. Only 100 people, mostly close friends and family, were invited, and phones were prohibited. Not even those in the entertainment business were selected.

A wedding photo still made it through the no-phone rule and went viral very fast. Harold Amenyah claimed that the photographer who took the now-famous picture did not follow the explicit guidelines. “However, they still decided to record and snap photos,” he remarked, sounding both frustrated and amused.

“The first photo to go viral that day was shot by a visitor who had been explicitly informed that cell phones were not permitted. You can imagine how small and intimate it was, as the event was for just 100 people, including family. Had I realized that a photo would be released and that we would become popular, I would have invited everyone.”

In addition to its substance, the mystery surrounding the bride, who had managed to remain anonymous until that point, generated a lot of talk about the viral photo.

“The individual who released the photo has still not been apprehended. I believe the individual put it on WhatsApp only to demonstrate their presence. Because the wedding was private, I believe it trended more because people were interested.”

Harold also said that his wife came up with the idea for them to make it so low-key.

And in a sweet twist, he disclosed they tied the knot exactly one year after they met—on April 1, a date that raised eyebrows.

“My wife decided to keep the wedding a secret. She was unaware of the strain that comes with being married to a well-known person. She realized the seriousness of what she was getting into because of the wedding scandal.
“I met my wife a year before we got married. We got married on the same date we met. Some people questioned why we chose April 1, April Fool’s Day, but that was our anniversary. Before that, I had been single for about three years.”

Reflecting on how things unfolded, Harold admitted it wasn’t ideal but was perhaps destined.

“My wife’s picture started trending around 3 p.m., just after the ceremony. We hadn’t even released any official photos yet. We had to quickly call our photographer to release the pictures for damage control. Since phones weren’t allowed, whoever took that photo must’ve done it secretly, so of course, it wasn’t the best quality. But in the end, I believe everything that happened was meant to happen.”

Harold Amenyah Reflects on his Path to Fame

The Ghanaian actor revealed that his big break did not come from a blockbuster film or popular TV series, but from a television commercial.

Harold Amenyah stated that it was the now-iconic ‘Drop That Yam’ commercial by Tigo in 2015 that catapulted him into the spotlight.

The commercial, which also featured well-known personalities like Mercy Asideu and Naa Ashorkor, played a key role in bringing Harold’s face to mainstream attention.

“At the time, I had already done a few commercials and TV series, so people were beginning to connect my face with my name. That commercial just pushed it over the edge and got people really curious about me.”

Despite the exposure, Harold was quick to point out that the fame didn’t immediately come with financial rewards.

“People would gather in front of my gate just to see me. The popularity was there, but it didn’t reflect in my bank account. That’s how our industry works. Even though the commercial was a hit, it didn’t improve my financial situation. I had to pull back a bit and distance myself from the public eye.”
