Wizkid Shines at Hollywood Bowl Concert
Following the premiere of his documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival, Wizkid has returned to the stage for another concert.
The megastar performed at a sold out concert at the Hollywood Bowl where he performed his classic records including songs from his last album ‘Morayo’.
The rendition of some of his songs was accompanied by an orchestra, which offered another dimension to the live music experience.
At the concert, the singer brought Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star Asake, with whom he performed their collaboration ‘MMS’.
This concert comes off the back of his premiere of the documentary titled ‘Love Live Lagos’ follows the rise of Wizkid as a Nigerian music star to a global superstar whose music has opened the doors for African musicians.
Among those interviewed for the documentary are 5-time Grammy-nominated Afrobeat icon Femi Kuti, Wizkid’s manager and partner Jada Pollock, his long-term manager Sunday Are, Julia Adenuga, and Seni Saraki, among other personalities who have worked closely with the Grammy winner.
The documentary also puts the singer among the group of iconic musicians, such as Fela Kuti and William Onyeabor, who have had films capturing their illustrious careers.
Following his concert at the Hollywood Bowl, the global icon’s fans would be hoping that this kicks off a run of live performances for the Grammy winner, who recently cancelled several of his tour dates for undisclosed reasons.
While fans might have to wait to learn when they will next see the superstar on stage, they can take comfort in his run of collaborations that have delivered guest appearances with Ayra Starr and Olamide.
Meanwhile, fans of Wizkid reacted after learning the price of the leather jacket he wore for his recent performance at the Hollywood Bowl.
According to a post circulating online, the jacket, which features beige multi-leather skin, is valued at $4,469.
When converted to Naira using today’s mid-market exchange rate of ₦1,588 per USD, the jacket reportedly costs around ₦7.1 million.
It was also noted that the superstar, who recently introduced his daughter to the world by unveiling her face, may not wear the jacket again after that night’s performance at the Hollywood Bowl.
A series of reactions followed the revelation of the jacket’s price online. Some fans compared the global icon to other music stars, including music star Rema, and pointed out that the jacket was not borrowed.
However, one fan argued that many celebrities borrow clothes and return them after public appearances.
