Ayra Starr Reacts To Rumour of Relationship Ban

Ayra Starr

Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has responded with humour and sarcasm to widespread rumours suggesting she is contractually banned from having a boyfriend or starting a family under her new Roc Nation deal.

The 22-year-old music star, whose real name is Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, recently made headlines after signing a five-year management contract with Roc Nation, the globally acclaimed label owned by American rap mogul Jay-Z.

The deal was widely celebrated as a major career milestone, positioning Ayra Starr for further international success.

However, shortly after the announcement, social media went into overdrive with claims that her contract included a strict personal clause allegedly forbidding her from engaging in romantic relationships or starting a family throughout the contract’s five-year span.

The unfounded claim sparked backlash and concern among fans, but Ayra Starr quickly stepped in to clear the air.

Reacting to the viral video, the Mavin Records signee took to social media with a witty clapback: “Does Ayra Starr know about this?”

The singer’s playful response not only dismissed the rumour but also highlighted how outlandish it sounded to her. To drive her point home, she went on to repost a tweet that further debunked the claim: “Them lie on top your head for broad daylight.”

While Roc Nation has not officially addressed the rumour, Ayra Starr’s direct response and repost appear to be confirmation enough that there is no such clause in her contract.

As fans continue to celebrate her groundbreaking deal, it’s clear the ‘Sability’ singer is focused on her music and unbothered by baseless speculations.

British music icon Chris Martin, lead vocalist of globally acclaimed band Coldplay, heaped high praise on Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr, boldly predicting a meteoric rise for the 22-year-old star.

Martin made the glowing remark while introducing the singer on stage during Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres world tour stop at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

“This is Ayra Starr from Nigeria. She is going to be the world’s biggest pop-star so soon,” the multiple Grammy-winning singer declared to a roaring crowd.

The moment marked a major milestone for the Mavin Records signee, who dazzled fans with a live performance of ‘Good Feelings’, her collaborative track with Coldplay.

She also performed her brand-new single, ‘Hot Body’, to thousands of cheering fans—including football legend Lionel Messi and his wife Antonela, who were in attendance.

Ayra Starr’s inclusion in the show is yet another sign of her growing international influence, as she continues to break boundaries for African artists on the global stage.

Meanwhile, the Afrobeats sensation shared the spotlight with British rock band Coldplay during their ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour stop at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami with football icon Lionel Messi and his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, watching from the crowd.

The Nigerian singer joined Coldplay on stage as a guest performer, thrilling the audience with a live rendition of their collaborative track, Good Feelings, as well as her latest single, Hot Body, alongside lead vocalist Chris Martin.

The evening became even more memorable when Messi and Antonela were projected on the stadium’s big screen, drawing thunderous applause and cheers from fans.

Clearly elated by the experience, Ayra took to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate the surreal moment. “I just performed Hot Body on stage with Coldplay!! And Messi was in the audience,” she posted.

The collaboration marks yet another milestone in Ayra Starr’s rapidly rising international career, and adds to Coldplay’s growing tradition of spotlighting global talent during their world tour.

Messi, who currently plays for Inter Miami, has been making appearances at major cultural events around the city, but his presence at the Coldplay concert, particularly during the performance of Ayra Starr, sparked excitement both online and among fans at the venue.

Social media has since been abuzz with reactions from fans celebrating the unexpected fusion of Afrobeats, rock, and football royalty under one roof.
