Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has shared an emotional tribute to mark the second anniversary of the fire that destroyed his luxurious home in Lekki.
In a powerful video posted on his Instagram page, the comedian recounted the heartbreak of losing his mansion in 2023, revealing how faith, perseverance, and purpose carried him through a season filled with loss, betrayal, and personal storms.
The clip opens with scenes of the charred remains of the original property and transitions to the stunning transformation of the rebuilt home, complete with marble flooring, sweeping staircases, and a fusion of modern design with Afrocentric touches.
“Two years ago today, everything went up in flames: my home, my peace, my comfort zone. And that was just the beginning,” AY narrates in the video’s voiceover. “I have seen betrayal, lies, and storms that tried to silence everything I built.”
The entertainer, known for his successful stand-up shows and film productions, emphasized that his journey of restoration was rooted in unwavering faith. His message of resilience—“purpose doesn’t burn in fire”—has resonated strongly with fans and followers across social media.
“I’m still here, not because I’m lucky, but because God is faithful… Every setback was a setup for something greater.”

AY Spends Time With His Children

The Nigerian comedian wormed his way into the hearts of many after they saw his new post.
In the recording, the humour merchant shared a lovely video he made while spending time with his two daughters, nephew, and niece.
In the caption of his post, he noted that he was with his favourite people and added that they all went out relaxing.
According to him, they shared laughter, love, and moments that matter the most, and he mentioned that they must plan another outing when the family is complete, including his younger brother, Yomi Casual, and others.
The moviemaker was seen playing with his two daughters. His first daughter, Michelle, was seen at the wheel while her father stood beside her. While they stood side by side, AY asked, “Who is the finest?” and Michelle left his side.
The comedian later picked up his youngest daughter, Ayomide, and playfully threw her in the air, with the little girl enjoying every moment of the outing.
It is worth noting that AY may have ended his marriage with his beautiful wife, Mabel, but he does not joke with his children. He was once seen travelling abroad to spend time with his first daughter on her birthday.
