Board of Directors Visits Bui Generation Station

Bui Power Authority’s (BPA)  Board of Directors in a strategic move to strengthen oversight and deepen their understanding of the Authority’s operations, has recently undertook a comprehensive working visit to the Bui Generating Station (BGS).

The four-day visit, provided the Board with valuable insights into the Authority’s efforts to drive sustainable energy solutions for the country.

The Board’s visit was not limited to the technical aspects of BPA’s operations.

“As part of the itinerary, the Board paid courtesy calls on the Banda Traditional Council and other key opinion leaders within the Bui Enclave.”

 This initiative aimed to “discuss avenues for enhancing community collaboration and promoting sustainable development partnerships,” a crucial aspect of BPA’s mandate.

Bui Power Authority’s Operations

During the visit, the Board Members had the opportunity to witness the intricate workings of the Bui Generating Station.

They toured the 404 MW Hydroelectric Plant, the 50 MWp Land-Based Solar Plant, and the 5 MWp Floating Solar Plant, gaining a “firsthand appreciation of the operational processes, safety protocols, and efficiency measures that underpin BPA’s reputation as one of Ghana’s most reliable and innovative renewable energy producers.”

The Bui Power Authority which was established in 2007, has been at the core of Ghana’s clean energy revolution.

The Authority’s mandate includes the development, operation, and maintenance of hydroelectric, solar, and other renewable energy projects to contribute to the country’s energy security and sustainability.

Over the recent years, BPA has expanded its portfolio, diversifying into various renewable energy technologies.

The ongoing 25 MWp Floating Solar Plant and the 100 MWp Land-Based Solar Plant are testament to the Authority’s commitment to leveraging innovative solutions to meet Ghana’s growing energy demands.

During the visit, the Board Members also inspected the newly developed staff accommodation facilities and the Multi-Purpose Office Complex, underscoring BPA’s commitments to creating a conducive work environment for its employees.

The Board Chair, Ambassador Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo sized the opportunity to commend the staff of BPA for their unwavering dedication and professionalism.

“They urged employees to continue upholding the highest standards of excellence, innovation, and teamwork in advancing the Authority’s strategic objectives and contributing to Ghana’s clean energy transition.”
