Energy Committee with Tullow Ghana

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy recently paid a working visit to Tullow Ghana, one of the country’s leading upstream oil and gas companies.

The visit to Tullow Ghana specifically, the Takoradi operations, signifies a move to strengthen the partnership between the government and the oil and gas industry.

 The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, toured the company’s facilities and engaged in discussions aimed at aligning the industry’s growth plans with the nation’s energy aspirations.

“We were honoured to host Ghana’s Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy during their recent working visit to our Takoradi operations. This visit provided an opportunity for us to share insights into our operations and growth plans, as well as our initiatives to optimize production, harness the gas potential, and achieve our net zero emissions target.”

The delegation, which included Honourable George Kwame Aboagye, Ranking Member of the Committee and Member of Parliament (MP) for Asense Manso and Akroso; Honourable Albert Tetteh Nyakotey, MP for Yilo Krobo; Honourable Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, MP for Kpong Balweshie; Honourable Mike Aidoo, MP for Oforikrom; and two clerks, Ms. Olivia Asante and Mr. Frank Diaba, was accompanied by Tullow Ghana’s Managing Director, Jean-Médard Madama, and Deputy Managing Director, Cynthia Lumor.

During the visit, the parliamentary delegation toured the TEN FPSO production facility, met with the offshore team, and observed key community projects supporting education and local development.

The visit was marked by share commitment by the two parties.

“We appreciate the committee’s pledge to continue partnering with us to sustainably develop Ghana’s oil and gas resources for the nation’s benefit.”

During the visit, Tullow Ghana shared its plans to optimize production in the Jubilee and TEN fields, harnessing the large gas potential of the TEN field to meet the growing energy demand in Ghana.

This strategic focus aligns with the government’s broader energy agenda, which aims to ensure the efficient and sustainable utilization of the country’s hydrocarbon resources.

The company’s operations have played a crucial role in bolstering Ghana’s energy security, with its Jubilee and TEN fields contributing significantly to the nation’s oil and gas production.

Tullow Ghana’s commitment to responsible and sustainable practices has further cemented its reputation as a reliable partner in the country’s oil and gas industry.

The company also revealed it dedication to the environmental stewardship which aligns with the government’s green transition agenda and that of global transition towards a low-carbon future.
