Ghana Chamber of Mines has announced its upcoming Masterclass on Mining, a strategic four-day executive learning programme designed to bolster leadership capacity and technical expertise across the nation’s extractive value chain.

Scheduled to take place from 13–16 March 2026 at the Capital View Hotel in Koforidua, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between policy formulation and industrial execution by gathering regulators, policymakers, and industry titans for a deep dive into the evolving dynamics of the sector.

“This Masterclass strengthens our collective understanding of mining and supports the advancement of a responsible, sustainable industry. It is a critical step in our journey toward excellence.”

This high-level engagement is structured to provide a comprehensive exploration of the mining lifecycle, ranging from foundational exploration and fiscal regimes to the complexities of community development and social performance.

By integrating critical discussions on the energy transition and artisanal small-scale mining (ASM) frameworks, the Masterclass seeks to align local operations with shifting global standards.

Attendees will participate in modules covering environmental regulatory frameworks and operational security, ensuring that the next generation of Ghanaian mining leaders is equipped to handle both traditional challenges and emerging green energy demands.

The Masterclass serves as a pivotal platform for harmonizing the often-divergent perspectives of government regulators and private sector operators.

By fostering a shared learning environment, the programme aims to streamline decision-making processes that directly impact Ghana’s investment attractiveness.

Kenneth Ashigbey, the CEO of the Chamber of Mines, noted that “bringing policymakers and industry players into the same learning space improves decision‑making and aligns Ghana’s mining sector with global best practice.”

This alignment is essential for navigating the legislative shifts expected in 2026, including the ongoing integration of local content requirements and refined fiscal policies.

Beyond high-level policy, the programme focuses heavily on the technical and social pillars that sustain modern mining operations.

Managed and moderated by the Chamber’s Chief Operating Officer, Ahmed D. Nantogmah, the sessions will dissect the intricacies of labour relations and human capital management.

In an era where “environmental stewardship and community engagement remain the non-negotiable pillars of mining governance,” as often cited by sector leaders, the Masterclass provides the practical tools necessary to implement these ideals.

Participants will explore the future of mining through the lens of renewables, ensuring that the industry remains a “genuine engine of inclusive growth” for the Ghanaian economy.

The 2026 Masterclass is more than an educational seminar; it is a strategic intervention intended to fortify the resilience of Ghana’s extractive industry against global market volatility.

Michael Edem Akafia, President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, emphasized that the curriculum is designed to ensure the industry remains “responsible and sustainable” in the long term.

By equipping chamber members with advanced knowledge on mineral revenue management and the energy transition, the event ensures that Ghana continues to assert its dominance as a premier mining hub in Africa.

This collective capacity building is expected to yield a more transparent, efficient, and collaborative sector capable of driving national development.
