The District Chief Executive for Achiase, Samuel Owusu Brako, has launched a comprehensive road rehabilitation initiative aimed at improving transport conditions and easing movement across key communities in the district.
The intervention forms part of a broader effort by the district assembly to address long standing infrastructure challenges that have affected mobility, trade, and daily life for residents.
According to the DCE, the decision to begin the road works was driven by the urgent need to respond to deteriorating road conditions that had become a major concern for drivers and commuters.
“Yesterday, we took a decisive step toward improving the daily lives of our constituents,” he stated, explaining that his team had been deployed to begin reshaping work on the Anyinam to Biene road.
Anyinam–Biene Road Rehabilitation Underway
The rehabilitation of the Anyinam to Biene stretch marks the first phase of the district’s renewed road improvement programme. The DCE described the condition of the road as unacceptable, noting that it had posed significant challenges for road users.

“The urgency of this project was clear. The road’s deplorable state was no longer acceptable for our drivers and travelers,” he said. The reshaping exercise is expected to restore the road surface, improve drainage, and enhance overall driving conditions, making travel safer and more comfortable for commuters.
Residents and transport operators have long complained about the impact of poor road conditions on travel time, vehicle maintenance costs, and safety. The ongoing works are therefore expected to provide immediate relief.
Expansion of Works to Akim Nyankomase
In addition to the Anyinam to Biene project, the district assembly has also commenced road improvement works in Akim Nyankomase. The initiative focuses on reshaping internal roads within the community to enhance local mobility.
Mr Owusu Brako revealed that the project had already begun, with teams working to improve accessibility within the town. “We have successfully begun with the internal streets of Akim Nyankomase to improve local mobility,” he noted.
The second phase of the project will extend the rehabilitation works to the main road connecting Akim Nyankomase to the district capital, Achiase, further strengthening transport links within the district.
Improving Connectivity and Local Trade
The road projects are expected to have broader economic benefits beyond improved mobility. By enhancing connectivity between communities, the district assembly aims to facilitate the movement of goods and services, thereby supporting local trade.
The DCE emphasized that quality road infrastructure plays a critical role in economic development, describing roads as essential to community growth. “Quality roads are the arteries of development,” he stated, highlighting the importance of reliable transport networks in boosting economic activity.
Improved road conditions are also expected to reduce transportation costs for traders and farmers, enabling them to access markets more efficiently.

The ongoing road works reflect the district assembly’s commitment to prioritizing projects that deliver direct benefits to residents. The DCE reiterated his administration’s focus on initiatives that improve living conditions and support community development.
“Achiase district is on the move,” he said, adding that the assembly would continue to invest in infrastructure projects that address the needs of the people. The emphasis on road rehabilitation aligns with broader national efforts to improve infrastructure as a driver of economic growth and social development.
Ensuring Safer and More Comfortable Travel
Beyond economic considerations, the projects are also aimed at improving safety for road users. Poor road conditions have been linked to increased accident risks, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
By restoring road surfaces and improving accessibility, the district assembly seeks to create safer travel conditions for drivers, pedestrians, and passengers.
The DCE expressed confidence that the ongoing works would significantly improve the commuting experience for residents, making travel smoother and more reliable.
As the projects progress, attention will focus on timely completion and the sustainability of the improvements. Maintenance will be critical to ensuring that the benefits of the rehabilitation efforts are preserved over the long term.

The district assembly has indicated that additional road projects may be considered as part of its ongoing development agenda, depending on available resources and community needs.
For residents of Achiase and surrounding communities, the current initiatives represent a positive step toward addressing infrastructure challenges that have persisted for years.
With the rehabilitation of key roads now underway, the district is positioning itself to improve connectivity, enhance economic activity, and deliver tangible benefits to its people.
