The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially confirmed the University of Ghana Stadium as the venue for the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup final, setting the stage for a highly anticipated clash between Dreams FC and Nations FC.

The final is scheduled for Sunday, May 31, 2026, where both clubs will battle for one of the most prestigious trophies in Ghanaian football. With silverware and a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup at stake, expectations are already building for a fiercely contested encounter.

The venue has become a regular host for major domestic fixtures and has previously staged the FA Cup final, most recently when Asante Kotoko defeated Golden Kicks to lift the trophy last season. “The 2025/26 MTN FA Cup final contest between Dreams FC and Nations FC will be played at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, May 31,” GFA statement read.

Dreams FC head into the final with confidence, having previously lifted the FA Cup during the 2022/23 season. The club has steadily built a reputation as one of the emerging forces in Ghanaian football, and another triumph would further solidify their status.

Their route to the final has been demanding. Dreams FC overcame Semper Fi, Asanska FC, Inter Allies, and Heart of Lions before securing their place in the final with a hard-fought 3-2 semi-final victory over Medeama at the Swedru Sports Stadium. Their campaign has been marked by resilience and tactical discipline under head coach Winfred Dormon.

Nations FC, on the other hand, are chasing history as they aim to win their first-ever FA Cup title. The club has enjoyed a remarkable run in this year’s competition, eliminating Ebony FC, AshantiGold 04 FC, Swedru All Blacks, and Berekum Chelsea before defeating Aduana FC 1-0 in the semi-finals.

Their progression to the final highlights their growing competitiveness on the domestic scene. A victory in Accra would not only secure their maiden FA Cup triumph but also mark a significant milestone in the club’s development as they will secure their first major trophy in Ghana’s football history.

High Stakes Beyond the Trophy

The stakes extend to the continental stage. The winner of the final will earn qualification to the CAF Confederation Cup, offering an opportunity to compete against some of Africa’s top clubs.

For Dreams FC, a return to continental football would carry added significance. The club made headlines during the 2023/24 season by reaching the semi-final stage of the competition, becoming the first Ghanaian side in recent years to achieve that feat but they lost to Egyptian giant Zamalek.

“The Still Believe” lads secured a goalless draw in the first leg away in Egypt but crumbled under pressure at home and lost 3-0 to the Egyptians.

Replicating or surpassing that run in the 2023/24 season in the CAF second tier inter club competition would be a key ambition.

For Nations FC, qualification would represent uncharted territory and a chance to test themselves at a higher level. Participation in African competition could also boost their profile and attract wider recognition.

The University of Ghana Stadium is expected to be filled with supporters from both sides, as well as neutral fans eager to witness what promises to be an exciting finale. The matchup brings together two clubs with contrasting histories but similar hunger for success.

With both teams demonstrating strong performances throughout the competition, the final is shaping up to be a closely contested affair. In a season defined by competitive balance and emerging talent, the MTN FA Cup final offers a fitting conclusion.

All eyes will be on Accra as Dreams FC and Nations FC compete not only for domestic glory but also for a place on the continental stage.
