Global superstar Shakira has once again claimed her throne as the undisputed Queen of World Cup anthems. On Thursday, May 7, 2026, the Colombian singer teased “Dai Dai,” her highly anticipated collaboration with Nigerian Afrobeats icon Burna Boy, confirming it as the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The full track is set to drop on May 14, just weeks before the tournament kicks off on June 11 in North America.

In a minute-long teaser video shared across her social media platforms and FIFA’s accounts, Shakira appears on the hallowed pitch of Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Maracanã Stadium.

Dressed vibrantly and flanked by energetic dancers, she delivers an uplifting chorus while holding the official tournament match ball, known as the Trionda.

The clip blends Latin rhythms with Afrobeats flair, ending with the rallying cry, “We’re ready!” Shakira captioned the post: “From Maracaná Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14. We’re ready!” tagging Burna Boy.

The announcement has sent waves of excitement through the football world and music fans alike. “Dai Dai” is described as a catchy reggaetón-tinged Afrobeats track that fuses Shakira’s signature Latin pop energy with Burna Boy’s Afrofusion sound.

Early previews suggest an infectious, stadium-ready anthem designed to unite fans across cultures during the world’s biggest sporting event.

This marks Shakira’s triumphant return to FIFA’s biggest stage. Sixteen years after her 2010 smash hit “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” became a global phenomenon soundtracking South Africa’s tournament and selling millions of copies worldwide.

Shakira is back with her second official World Cup anthem. Many reports note that she could become the first artist with multiple official songs for the tournament, cementing her legacy in football culture.

Burna Boy, one of Africa’s most influential voices and a Grammy-winning artist known for his genre-blending hits and socially conscious lyrics, brings fresh energy to the project.

His collaboration with Shakira represents a powerful meeting of Latin and African musical worlds, perfectly mirroring the 2026 World Cup’s spirit of global unity.

The tournament will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, featuring 48 teams across 16 cities in what promises to be the largest and most inclusive World Cup yet. The final is scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Public Reactions

Fans and commentators have reacted with overwhelming enthusiasm. Social media erupted with nostalgia for “Waka Waka,” alongside praise for the cross-continental partnership. “Shakira + Burna Boy = summer anthem guaranteed,” one viral post declared.

Music critics highlight how the blend of rhythms could create another timeless football soundtrack capable of transcending sports into mainstream pop dominance.

FIFA’s choice of Shakira underscores the organization’s strategy to leverage massive global stars for maximum reach. The 2010 anthem not only boosted the tournament’s visibility but also introduced millions to African music and culture.

“Dai Dai” aims to do the same by spotlighting Afrobeats on a worldwide platform, potentially boosting Burna Boy’s already stellar international profile.

As anticipation builds for the May 14 release, expectations are sky-high.

The teaser’s vibrant visuals from one of football’s most legendary venues, combined with the artists’ star power, position the song as a contender for 2026’s soundtrack of unity, celebration, and unforgettable moments.

With the World Cup drawing closer, “Dai Dai” is poised to become the rallying cry for players and fans from all corners of the globe.

Shakira and Burna Boy have delivered a preview that promises joy, rhythm, and an irresistible call to the pitch.

Football fans everywhere are counting down the days not just to the opening match in Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium, but to blasting this new anthem on repeat.
