Ghana Premier League side Vision FC have officially confirmed the departure of head coach Nana Kweku Agyemang following the expiration of his two-year contract with the Tema-based club.

The announcement brings an end to a memorable spell for the tactician, who played a pivotal role in guiding the club through one of the most important periods in its history.

Agyemang joined Vision FC ahead of their maiden Ghana Premier League campaign in the 2024-25 season and leaves having firmly established the club among the country’s top-flight sides.

Vision FC communicated the news through an official statement on social media, expressing appreciation for the coach’s contribution during his tenure. “Vision FC announce the departure of Head Coach Nana Kweku Agyemang upon the conclusion of his two-year contract,” the club stated.

A Historic Journey in the Top Flight

Agyemang’s tenure will be remembered as one of growth, resilience and achievement. Taking charge at a crucial stage in the club’s development, he successfully navigated the challenges that came with competing in the Ghana Premier League for the first time.

Under his guidance, Vision FC adapted quickly to the demands of top-flight football and consistently showed they belonged among the country’s elite clubs. Despite operating with a relatively young squad and facing more experienced opponents, the team regularly punched above its weight.

Coincidentally, Vision FC finished both of their previous GPL seasons in eleventh place though they fell two points short in their second season than they amassed in their debut campaign.

The club highlighted some of the landmark achievements recorded during his reign, particularly victories against some of Ghana’s biggest football heavyweights. “The club sincerely thanks Nana Agyemang for his significant contributions, including leading the team to historic Ghana Premier League wins over Asante Kotoko, Accra Hearts of Oak, and others while fostering an exciting style of play,” the statement added.

Those victories were among the defining moments of Vision FC’s rise in the league and demonstrated the tactical discipline and confidence that Agyemang instilled in his players. His ability to prepare his side for high-profile encounters earned him admiration from supporters and neutrals alike.

Beyond the results, Vision FC developed a reputation for playing attractive and progressive football. The team often displayed courage in possession while maintaining the organisation required to compete against some of the division’s strongest sides.

Building a Foundation for the Future

Perhaps Agyemang’s greatest achievement was his work in nurturing a youthful squad into a competitive Premier League outfit.

Throughout his time at the club, he placed significant trust in young players and helped many of them develop into key contributors at the highest domestic level.

His tactical awareness and man-management skills proved crucial during difficult periods. Vision FC spent large parts of both seasons battling to avoid relegation, yet the coach consistently found solutions to steer the team away from danger.

In their debut campaign, he successfully guided the club to safety and ensured their place in the league for another season. The recently concluded campaign presented similar challenges, with Vision once again involved in a tense fight for survival.

However, through determination and effective leadership, Agyemang helped the team secure enough points to preserve their top-flight status.

Retaining their place in the league for a second consecutive season represented another significant milestone for a club still establishing itself among Ghana’s football elite.

His departure marks the end of an important chapter for Vision FC, but it also leaves behind a strong foundation on which the club can continue to build. The structures, identity and competitive spirit developed during his tenure are expected to benefit the team in the years ahead.

As the club prepares for a new era, it has already begun the process of identifying a successor. Vision FC indicated that further information regarding the appointment of a new head coach will be communicated in due course. “We wish him every success in his future endeavours. Details about the new Head Coach appointment will be shared soon,” the club concluded.

For now, Vision FC supporters will look back fondly on a coach who guided the club through a historic period, delivered memorable victories and ensured their continued presence in the Ghana Premier League.

Nana Kweku Agyemang leaves with his reputation enhanced and with the gratitude of a club whose growth he helped shape.
