The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) kicked off the new trading week with mixed signals as trading activity slowed sharply, yet the market continued its remarkable upward momentum.
While the volume and value of shares traded declined significantly compared to the previous session, investors still pushed the benchmark index higher, reinforcing confidence in Ghana’s equity market.
Leading the charge was Intravenous Infusions PLC, which emerged as the biggest winner of the day after recording an impressive 9.09% increase in its share price. The strong performance placed the healthcare company at the top of the gainers’ chart and highlighted continued investor interest in selected equities despite reduced market activity.
The latest trading session demonstrates that although investors traded fewer shares, demand for quality stocks remained resilient, helping the market maintain its strong upward trajectory.
Intravenous Infusions Steals the Spotlight
Intravenous Infusions delivered the day’s most remarkable performance by climbing 9.09% to close at GH¢0.72 per share. The company also attracted substantial investor attention, recording the highest trading volume of the session with 503,668 shares exchanged.
Its strong performance was followed by Hords Limited, whose stock advanced by 7.69%, while beverage producer Kasapreko gained 1.00%. Telecommunications giant MTN Ghana also posted a respectable gain of 0.86%, extending its positive run as investors continued to show confidence in one of the market’s most actively traded stocks.
The gains recorded by these companies helped offset losses elsewhere on the exchange and provided fresh momentum for the benchmark market index.
Trading Activity Slows Significantly
Despite the impressive gains recorded by several stocks, overall trading activity cooled considerably compared to the previous trading day.
A total of 1,796,257 shares changed hands during the session, representing a market value of GH¢7,703,818.48.
This represented a 44% decline in trading volume and a 29% drop in turnover compared with Friday, July 24, suggesting that investors adopted a more cautious approach at the beginning of the week.
Even with the slowdown, market participation remained broad as 29 listed equities were actively traded.
The session ended with six gainers and six losers, reflecting a balanced trading environment where investors selectively rewarded companies with attractive valuations and growth prospects.
Market Index Climbs to Fresh Heights
One of the biggest highlights of the trading day was the continued strength of the benchmark GSE Composite Index.
The index advanced by 58.09 points, representing a gain of 0.38%, to close at 15,388.66 points.
The latest performance further strengthened the exchange’s impressive record in 2026.
Over the past week, the benchmark index has gained 3.06%. During the past four weeks, it has risen by 4.21%, while its year to date return has surged to an outstanding 75.46%.
The sustained growth reflects growing investor confidence in Ghana’s listed companies and the broader economy as improving macroeconomic conditions continue to support market sentiment.

Financial Stocks Face Mild Pressure
Unlike the broader market, financial stocks ended the day slightly lower.
The GSE Financial Stocks Index slipped by 0.12% to close at 8,271.11 points.
Although the decline may appear modest, the sector continues to maintain strong overall gains.
The financial index has posted a one week gain of 0.17%, a four week gain of 0.20%, and an impressive year to date return of 77.98%.
This suggests that while banking and financial stocks experienced minor profit taking during the latest session, investor confidence in the sector remains largely intact.
CalBank Leads Decliners
Among the day’s weakest performers was CalBank, which recorded the largest price decline after shedding 1.25% to close at GH¢0.79 per share.
Societe Generale Ghana followed with a decline of 0.57%, while Ecobank Transnational fell by 0.51%.
Guinness Ghana Breweries also ended in negative territory after losing 0.33%.
Although these losses weighed on sentiment within some sectors, they were not sufficient to derail the market’s broader upward movement.
Active Stocks Dominate Investor Interest
Trading remained concentrated in a handful of popular stocks.
Following Intravenous Infusions, MTN Ghana recorded the second highest trading volume with 463,114 shares.
Kasapreko attracted strong investor demand with 249,432 shares traded, while CalBank also remained active with 240,015 shares changing hands.
The concentration of trading in these counters indicates that investors continue to focus on companies with strong market visibility, improving earnings prospects, and attractive valuations.
Market Capitalization Nears GH¢293 Billion
The Ghana Stock Exchange continues to build substantial value despite fluctuations in daily trading activity.
The market’s total capitalization now stands at approximately GH¢292.7 billion, equivalent to about US$25.1 billion.
This impressive valuation reflects the sustained appreciation in share prices witnessed throughout the year and reinforces the GSE’s position as one of Africa’s strongest performing stock markets in 2026.
With the benchmark index continuing to reach new milestones and investor confidence remaining resilient, market participants will be closely watching upcoming corporate earnings announcements and broader economic developments for further direction. If the current momentum persists, Ghana’s stock market could continue its remarkable rally despite periodic declines in trading activity.
