The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) has reaffirmed its commitment to Ghana’s investment promotion agenda with its participation in the launch of the 2025 Annual Investment Report. The high profile launch ceremony took place at the Bank Square of the Bank of Ghana in Accra.
The Report is a collaborative initiative between four key state institutions at the heart of Ghana’s investment ecosystem. They are the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), the Bank of Ghana (BoG), the Petroleum Commission, and the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA).
The comprehensive document provides detailed and credible information on Ghana’s investment landscape. It captures trends in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), capital flows, sectoral performance, and investor confidence, to support evidence-based policymaking, targeted investment promotion, and informed decision-making by both government and private sector.
The launch brought together a distinguished gathering of stakeholders. In attendance were heads of government institutions, captains of industry, investors, members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, representatives of private sector organizations, and other key players in Ghana’s investment ecosystem.
The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, was the keynote speaker for the event. In her address, she underscored the critical role of investment in driving Ghana’s industrialisation agenda, creating decent jobs for the youth, and accelerating sustainable economic growth.Hon. Ofosu-Adjare noted that in an increasingly competitive global environment, data and transparency are crucial for attracting quality investments.
She described the 2025 Annual Investment Report as a timely and useful tool for assessing the country’s investment progress, identifying gaps, and informing strategies to improve the overall investment climate.

Government Remains Committed to Implementing Progressive Reforms
According to her, government remains committed to implementing progressive reforms to make Ghana the most preferred investment destination in Africa. She highlighted ongoing initiatives to improve the ease of doing business, enhance infrastructure, ensure regulatory certainty, and provide targeted incentives for strategic sectors.
She commended the four collaborating institutions for their dedication, technical collaboration, and commitment to producing a well-researched and insightful report. She urged all stakeholders to make good use of the report’s findings to shape future policy and investment decisions.
Representing the Chief Executive Officer of GFZA, Dr. Mary Awusi, was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Operations, Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu. He joined other dignitaries on the platform and lauded the collaborative effort behind the report.
Mr. Wiredu noted that the report provides an important reference point for assessing Ghana’s investment performance over the past year and for identifying new opportunities to attract further investments.

He emphasized that such data driven publications are essential for promoting sustainable economic growth and deepening investor confidence. He reiterated GFZA’s central role in Ghana’s investment architecture.
As the institution mandated to facilitate Free Zones investments, GFZA continues to drive export led growth through the provision of attractive investment incentives, streamlined licensing procedures, and dedicated aftercare support for enterprises operating within the Free Zones enclave.
Mr. Wiredu explained that through its work, the Authority is helping Ghanaian and foreign enterprises to expand their operations, add value to local raw materials, create jobs, and access regional and international markets, particularly leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
GFZA Reaffirms Openness to Investors
He added that GFZA’s collaboration in producing the Investment Report demonstrates its commitment to transparency, inter-agency coordination, and national development. He assured investors that GFZA remains open for business and ready to support both existing and potential investors to thrive in Ghana’s stable and business-friendly environment.

The report shows resilience in Ghana’s investment climate despite global economic headwinds and points to emerging opportunities in manufacturing, agribusiness, technology, energy, and services. Participants at the launch welcomed the report and called for its wider dissemination to the private sector, academia, and Ghana’s missions abroad to ensure it effectively markets Ghana’s investment potential.
Also present to support the Authority at the launch were the Director for Marketing and Investment Promotion, Ms. Anita Quashie; the Director for Applications and Licensing, Mr. Fred Agyei-Gyan; the Senior Manager for Corporate Affairs, PR & Aftercare, Mr. Bilal Muazu Sulemana; and other officers of the Authority.
Their presence underscored GFZA’s team approach to investment promotion and its readiness to engage stakeholders on the opportunities available within the Free Zones scheme. The Ghana Free Zones Authority continues to play a pivotal role in the country’s economic transformation agenda. By facilitating export-oriented investments and providing a conducive environment for businesses to operate efficiently, GFZA is directly contributing to foreign exchange earnings, technology transfer, skills development, and industrialization.
The Authority has pledged to continue working closely with GIPC, the Bank of Ghana, the Petroleum Commission, and other relevant agencies to harmonize investment data, streamline processes, and present a united front in promoting Ghana as a gateway to Africa.
The 2025 Annual Investment Report is expected to serve as a key reference document for government, investors, researchers, and development partners as the country works towards building a resilient, competitive, and export-driven economy.
