Accra Hearts of Oak secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Vision FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex on Saturday to inflict on the hosts their first home defeat of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
Kwasi Asmah proved to be the hero for the Phobians, scoring four minutes before the end of regulation time to settle a closely contested Matchday Seven encounter in Tema New Town.
The Hearts of Oak midfielder reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area following a corner kick before firing a low effort into the net to break the deadlock.
The goal was Asmah’s first of the campaign and arrived at a crucial moment, with both sides appearing destined to share the spoils after a largely competitive contest.
Vision FC attempted to find a late equaliser following the setback, but Hearts of Oak held firm defensively to preserve their advantage and secure all three points on the road.

The result also represented a significant milestone for the visitors, who recorded their first-ever away victory against Vision FC after previously failing to win in their two league visits to the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex.
Hearts Break Vision FC’s Home Resistance
Vision FC had secured one win and two draws at home this season maintaining and unbeaten home recored.
However, the defeat against the 21-time Ghana Premier League champions has dented that peice of recored.
The victory also offered Hearts of Oak a measure of revenge for their previous visit to the venue, where Vision FC secured a 1-0 victory in April 2026.
That defeat had extended the Phobians’ wait for an away win against the newly promoted side, but Asmah’s late intervention ensured they finally overcame the challenge on their return.
The latest encounter continued a pattern of closely fought meetings between the two clubs since Vision FC joined the Ghana Premier League in the 2024/25 season.
Before Saturday’s fixture, the sides had met four times in the league, with Hearts recording two victories, Vision winning once and the remaining encounter ending in a draw.
The Phobians had also won both previous home meetings against Vision FC, recording identical 1-0 victories in November 2024 and November 2025.
Saturday’s result therefore gave Hearts their first away win in the fixture and extended their overall advantage in the head-to-head record.
Phobians Strengthen Defensive Record
Beyond the three points, the victory further highlighted Hearts of Oak’s defensive resilience in the ongoing campaign.
The Phobians have now recorded five clean sheets in their opening seven league matches, underlining their ability to keep opponents at bay even when goals prove difficult to come by.

Their latest shutout ensured that Vision FC failed to find the net on home soil for the second time this season , extending a frustrating afternoon for the hosts.
The result has lifted Hearts of Oak to second place in the league standings on 14 points, level with leaders Medeama SC, who are scheduled to face FC Samartex 1996 in Samreboi on Sunday.
Medeama’s Matchday Seven fixture offers the leaders an opportunity to move clear at the summit, leaving Hearts to await the outcome as the competition for the early-season top positions intensifies.
For Vision FC, however, the defeat represents a setback after establishing themselves as a difficult opponent on home soil.
The Eewo Kɛkɛ lads have now collected just six points from a possible 21, leaving them in the relegation zone after seven matches.
Berekum Chelsea End Away-Day Struggles
Elsewhere in the Ghana Premier League, Berekum Chelsea claimed a valuable 2-0 victory over Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium.
The result marked Chelsea’s first-ever away win against the Kpando-based side and their first victory on the road in the 2026/27 campaign.
Before Saturday’s encounter, the Berekum-based outfit had lost all three of their previous away fixtures of the current season, making the triumph an important breakthrough as they seek greater consistency this season.

The three points lifted Chelsea into the top half of the league table with 10 points, providing a timely boost to their campaign.
For Heart of Lions, the defeat denied them the opportunity to capitalise on home advantage, while Chelsea departed Kpando with a much-needed result that could help build momentum for their upcoming fixtures.
