MultiChoice Ghana has announced four simplified DStv subscription packages as the company seeks to offer subscribers more accessible television entertainment from November 5, 2026.
The Country CEO of MultiChoice Ghana, Alex Okyere, announced the new packages at a joint press conference with the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Honourable Samuel Nartey George, explaining that the revised line-up would replace six existing packages with four options designed to provide greater value for households.
“Our new packs will start at an unbelievable price of just 50 Ghana Cedis a month. These are familiar moments; they are also the reason the details of a television package matter.”

Mr Okyere explained that the restructuring followed engagements with the Ministry, the National Communications Authority (NCA) and MultiChoice’s parent group, Canal+, as the company considered how to improve the value subscribers receive for their payments.
He highlighted the central role television plays in family life, from following drama series and children’s programmes to watching football and enjoying films after a demanding day. These varied interests, he observed, informed the need for packages that cater to different household preferences without requiring every subscriber to pay for the same range of content.
Under the new arrangement, the existing Padi, Access, Family, Compact, Compact Plus and Premium packages will give way to Starter, Select, Sports and Ultimate. Mr Okyere emphasised that the changes are part of a new pricing structure.
The entry-level Starter package will cost GH¢50 monthly and provide 90 channels, including content from Akwaaba Magic, Novelas Plus, Africa Magic Epic, Cartoon Network and MNet Movies. Subscribers will also be able to access free-to-air stations such as TV3 and UTV through their DStv decoders, eliminating the need to switch between devices to watch those channels.
For households seeking a wider selection, the Select package will cost GH¢100 per month and offer 123 channels. Its line-up includes MNet Movies, Africa Magic Showcase, CNN and WWE, giving viewers access to additional entertainment and international programming.
Mr Okyere presented the revised structure as a response to the different needs of Ghanaian viewers, with each tier offering a distinct combination of channels and content.
MultiChoice Ghana Slashes Football Package To GH¢250
MultiChoice Ghana will introduce a dedicated DStv Sports package at GH¢250 per month from giving football fans access to the company’s full football offering at a substantially reduced subscription price.
The Country CEO of MultiChoice Ghana, Alex Okyere, outlined the new Sports and Ultimate package and presented the changes as part of the company’s revised subscription structure and its effort to deliver more value to viewers.

Mr Okyere explained that the Sports package would carry the company’s football content, including the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League and La Liga. The package will also include the entertainment content available through the lower tiers, giving subscribers access to football alongside other television programming.
The new monthly price represents a significant reduction from the GH¢563 previously charged for Compact Plus, which subscribers currently need to access the full football offering. Mr Okyere noted that customers would pay GH¢250 for the Sports package once the new prices take effect on November 5.
The announcement marks a further reduction from the premium pricing levels discussed during the press conference, when the interviewer referenced an earlier price of more than GH¢800 for the top-tier offering. The new Sports package is intended specifically for viewers whose principal interest is football, without requiring them to subscribe to the most expensive package.
For subscribers seeking a more extensive combination of sport and entertainment, MultiChoice Ghana will also introduce Ultimate, a new premium package. Mr Okyere explained that the package would include the full range of DStv content, encompassing premium sports and entertainment.
Ultimate will feature sports such as golf, Formula 1, tennis, MotoGP and rugby, alongside the company’s entertainment offering. The package will cost GH¢570 per month from November 5, replacing the existing Premium package, which currently costs GH¢854 monthly.
The new Ultimate price therefore represents a reduction of GH¢284 per month compared with the current Premium subscription fee. The Sports package, meanwhile, offers a separate option for football enthusiasts who want the company’s football content at a lower monthly cost.
Mr Okyere expressed particular enthusiasm for the Sports package, highlighting its focus on football while preserving access to other content within the package structure.
