Bayern Munich will give Harry Kane a special welcome at the Allianz Arena after the England captain won the 2026 Ballon d’Or and Striker of the Year awards, with the German champions preparing to celebrate his achievement across two high-profile fixtures.

The Bundesliga leaders confirmed that they will honour their prolific forward before Wednesday’s DFB-Pokal match, before paying further tribute to him during Saturday’s Bundesliga top-of-the-table encounter.

“Kane will be given a special welcome by FC Bayern before Wednesday’s DFB Cup match against Magdeburg at the Allianz Arena as well as being honoured at the Bundesliga top-of-the-table clash against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.”

The planned celebrations underline Bayern’s pride in Kane’s historic achievement, which places him among the club’s most distinguished players to have won football’s most prestigious individual award.

Kane joins Bayern legends Gerd Müller, who won the Ballon d’Or in 1970, Franz Beckenbauer, who claimed the honour in 1972 and 1976, and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who won it in 1980 and 1981.

“This is a proud day for FC Bayern,” club president Herbert Hainer said, describing Kane as an outstanding footballer and person whose contributions have strengthened the club’s ambitions.

His triumph also represents a significant moment for German football, with Bayern Chief Executive Jan-Christian Dreesen highlighting the importance of a player from a Bundesliga club winning the award after three decades.

Kane’s recognition follows years of exceptional performances at the highest level, with his goalscoring consistency, leadership and influence making him one of the most celebrated forwards in world football.

Bayern Celebrate Kane’s Historic Achievement

Again, Hainer praised the partnership between Kane and Bayern, insisting that the club and its star striker had developed together while pursuing their highest ambitions. “He now joins a line with Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and that says everything about our history.”

The Bayern president added that the club was proud to have Kane as part of its family, describing him as an all-round outstanding sportsman and person. He also congratulated the club’s other nominees, including its men’s and women’s players and head coach Vincent Kompany.

Dreesen said Kane thoroughly deserved the recognition, pointing to his remarkable record of breaking milestones and his contributions beyond goals and assists. “For a player from a German club to win the Ballon d’Or for the first time in 30 years is a strong signal for the Bundesliga,” the Chief Executive stated.

He described Kane as one of the leading personalities in world football and a role model whose influence extends beyond the game. Dreesen also credited the club’s numerous nominations to the outstanding seasons enjoyed by both its men’s and women’s teams.

Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl similarly praised Kane’s leadership, noting that the striker takes responsibility both on the pitch and in the dressing room.

Eberl described the award as recognition of Kane’s career achievements and said his success, celebrated in his home city, sent an encouraging message about perseverance and ambition.

Kane’s Influence Extends Beyond Goals

Sporting director Christoph Freund said Kane’s qualities went beyond his scoring record, describing him as a rare combination of world-class ability and humility.

Freund added that the England international had elevated the centre-forward position and served as an inspiration to younger players, placing him among football’s greatest figures.

Bayern Women’s sporting director Bianca Rech also congratulated Kane, while highlighting the growing international reputation of the women’s team. She said the club’s nominations, including its first recognition as Team of the Year, offered further motivation to build on its progress.

Kane’s latest honour also strengthens Bayern’s place in Ballon d’Or history. Robert Lewandowski finished second in 2021, while Franck Ribéry and Manuel Neuer secured third place in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

Kane was ranked 13th in last year’s voting, while Bayern teammate Michael Olise finished 30th, making the striker’s latest success a major leap in individual recognition.

The Ballon d’Or winners are determined through votes from journalists representing countries in the top 100 of the FIFA men’s world rankings, with each selecting 10 players from a shortlist of 30 in order of preference.

With tributes planned at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday and Saturday, Bayern will have two opportunities to celebrate Kane’s landmark achievement in front of their supporters as the club’s leading forward adds another distinction to his remarkable career.
