A member of the National Communications Team of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Kojo Darkwa Assumani, has stated that the party is unshaken by the new role taken by the former General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.

Mr Kojo Darkwa Assumani said this while he was reacting to news that the newly elected officers of the NDC have sent shivers down the spine of the governing party, particularly in the wake of the widely held opinion of their mismanagement of the economy.

Prior to NDC’s National Delegates’ Congress, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah had revealed that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) was unable to collate results in the 2020 polls because an IT system installed by the then Chairman of the party, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, crashed after just five regional results were entered into it for processing.

As such Mr. Assumani disclosed that the NPP is not moved one bit by the new role of the man known in the political circles as General Mosquito.

“What we will do to support him General Mosquito in his new role will be to build for him and the NDC a collation centre to enable them to find figures when is time to go the Supreme Court”

Mr Darkwa indicated that the NDC’s new executives bring nothing new to the table. “It is the same gibberish propaganda to sway Ghanaians like it was done before in 2008.The NPP has its eyes on the ball and are waiting for the referee to blow the whistle for the competition to start,” he emphasized.

Asiedu Nketia Leak Audio

In a leaked audio, Mr Nketia was heard telling his audience “I understand if anyone says I’m partly to blame for the collation fiasco because all those people undertaking the process were reporting to me but the bit of it is that there were people tasked to do that job.”

The new Chairman added that the party could not collate results for the 2020 elections due to an IT system failure. Confirming the audio where he was heard accusing Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, for the shoddy work in relation to the 2020 election petition was indeed his voice, Mr Asiedu Nketia stated that he was even surprised that the media had termed it as “leaked tape”. To him, he said it at an open forum and he had repeated that at other forums.

Meanwhile, According to Asiedu Nketia, his leaked audio recording purporting that the party did not have concrete evidence during the 2020 election petition at the Supreme Court worked the magic for him to become the new National Chairman. General Mosquito believes the audio did more good than harm, contrary to what his detractors expected.

“The people thought they will play the audio to destroy my campaign but it was actually a huge endorsement. Some press houses wanted to twist and use it against me and these are anti-NDC. They felt the more they hyped it, it will confirm existing stories from the NPP about the election petition.”

Mr Nketia further stated that he wished he had money to pay so the tape could be played more, however, he was grateful for the free airtime and publicity he was given within the short period.
