Daddy Lumba Subtly Mocks Great Ampong

Daddy Lumba and Great Ampong

Daddy Lumba, the legendary Ghanaian Highlife musician, has wisely reacted to Great Ampong’s decision to cancel plans to release a rumored diss song for him.

Great Ampong had indicated during an interview that his ‘Onyame Akatua’ song is a reply to Daddy Lumba’s ‘Ofon Na Di Nsem Fon’ diss song.

At the time he made this remark, the ‘Hossana; hitmaker also said that someone from Daddy Lumba’s camp made him aware that the ‘Theresa’ hitmaker has recorded a diss song for him, so he was not too surprised when the song was released in December 2022 with those lyrics.

Despite making these remarks earlier, in his latest interview, Great Ampong decided to beat a hasty retreat and retract his earlier remarks.

He indicated that the song was not a diss song for Daddy Lumba contrary to what he said during the interview.

Well, Great Ampong might have changed his mind but the handlers of Lumba’s social media pages have still decided to keep the fire blazing cunningly.

One of Lumba’s songs titled ‘Wapere Anu Wo Ho Dee’ which literally translates in English as ‘you have regretted after you decided to rush’ was shared as a throwback some moments after Ampong decided to change his mind.

The video post from all indicates a subtle way of mocking Great Ampong for his inability to release his diss song.

Great Ampong makes a sharp U-turn

Gospel singer Great Ampong has made a sharp U-turn after earlier assuring Ghanaians that his ‘Onyame Akatua’ song is a diss song for legendary Daddy Lumba.

Recalling, Great Ampong emphatically stated during an interview that his ‘Onyame Akatua’ song is a reply to Daddy Lumba’s ‘Ofon na di nsem fon’ diss song.

Speaking in an interview, Great Ampong ate back his words and claimed that his ‘Onyame Akatua’ isn’t a diss song for Daddy Lumba contrary to what he said.

He further said that he wouldn’t shy away from mentioning him if he was indeed the one.

“I can compose a song and have his name in it because I have written songs for people. Some people approach me to compose songs for their dead relatives and I do. I take the deceased’s name and details and then compose the song.

“I could have mentioned his name and the song was more than three to four minutes long but you never heard his name”.

Great Ampong

His statement in the previous interview is at variance with the current interview that he had composed a song in response to Daddy Lumba after his song was made public.

“I said I was going to compose a song, and he will hear from me, but this isn’t the song. I am not backtracking on my words. Did I mention his name?

“When you listened to my song, did you hear anyone’s name in it? I am telling you the time for me to compose for him (Daddy Lumba) hasn’t come”.

Great Ampong

It’s clear that an influential person has advised Great Ampong to quash his beef with Daddy Lumba because it won’t be worth it in the long run.

He further specified that hardly does he listen to an interview he grants to media organizations and that he can’t recall the specifics of his interview. He added that even with his songs, he does not listen to them again after recording them.

As it stands now, the genesis of Daddy Lumba and Great Ampong’s feud is something known to the public already, and hoping to see their feud resolved without any future complications.

The gospel singer claims that the Highlife veteran cheated him after the launch of their joint music project dubbed ‘Hossana’.
