Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa Running Two Unregistered Companies And Committing Tax Fraud.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa

North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has been accused of running two unregistered companies that are owing taxes to the tune of over GHC90,000.

The allegations were contained in a letter transmitted to the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), demanding a probe into the legal status of the two companies and their tax liabilities.

The North Tongu, Member of Parliament was the same person who investigated Rev. Victor Kusi and then came up with findings that proved that Rev. Victor Kusi had another registered name; Adu Gyamfi, which he (Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa), believed was so because, the renowned Pastor was involved in fraudulent activities and thus needed dual identities.

Triad of factors Driving Ghana’s Fight against Crime

Ablakwa stretched this matter long and wide, to the extent of calling out the National Identification Authority (NIA) for being pathetic and disbelieving, for the fact that they were able to register the said ‘Man of God’, under two different names which can be found in their system and thus; did not find any fault with this. He then informed parliament about this and demanded the ‘Man of God’ be prosecuted for his actions and deceiving them even as to him getting on board the National Cathedral Board.

There is a local Ghanaian saying that goes like this; ‘if you see someone’s beard burning, fetch water and put it beside yours’. This basically means that when an individual is in trouble for a wrong done, check your lifestyle and way of life and see if you will not be caught up in that same web of life. If you will be caught up, then it calls for change in some parts of your life, to do the right thing.

This shows clearly well that Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa did not pay attention to himself whiles chasing someone around thinking he was free of fault.

The petition was authored by a group known as The Movement For Justice – Ghana, and signed by its convenor and a member Kwaku Taki Adomako and Paa Kwesi Nimfah-Davis respectively. A copy sighted by shows a GRA stamp that acknowledges receipt of the letter.

Ablakwa’s Unregistered Companies

The two companies it alleges Ablakwa was operating included solely-owned Volta Klenam Farms and Industries Ltd – allegedly Incorporated in 2021. The second company is Sawi Solutions where Ablakwa is listed as CEO, as per his employment history found in Parliaments official records.

The letter tiled: TAX LIABILITIES OF HON. SAMUEL OKUDZETO ABLAKWA, read in part, “I would like to bring to your attention that Sawi Solutions, a business of which Mr. Ablakwa was a Managing Director, according to the website of Parliament, was never registered with the Ghana Revenue Authority and has not filed any returns or paid taxes during its period of operation. I request that you confirm the accuracy of this information and take appropriate action”, the letter said.

GRA

The letter written by the group noted that they would like to bring the attention of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), to the fact that Volta Klenam Farms and Industries Limited, a company solely owned by Mr. Ablakwa which he founded in September 2021, was not registered with the GRA and therefore has not paid taxed since its incorporation.

“We would also like to bring to your attention that Mr. Ablakwa has a tax liability Of GH¢96,076.16 that the Ghana Revenue Authority has failed or neglected to collect. I kindly request that you take the necessary steps to request Mr. Ablakwa to pay his tax liability immediately.

“It is of utmost importance that the tax compliance of Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, as a Member of Parliament for North Tongu, be observed and upheld, as it serves as a model for the general public.”

The Movement For Justice – Ghana

In this, Ablakwa has been pointed fingers at, and we anticipate answers from both the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa himself.
