Great Ampong Advises Against Church Doctrines

Ghanaian artist, Great Ampong

Great Ampong has strongly advised against following church doctrines to the damage of oneself.

The Gospel Star argued that it was better to have a personal devotion to God and obedience to the Bible.

He answered the question if he was faithful to the laws of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church of which he is a popular member.

He said:

“Oh, I follow God’s laws – what God has said.

“What I love is to let the Bible control me. I don’t let humans and doctrines control me”.

Great Ampong

He added that some people have not been able to get to where they rightly belong because doctrines have the potential to change someone’s destiny.

He cited an instance in a church where someone received an American visa via the Green Card Lottery (Diversity Visa Programme) but his pastor told him because he had acquired it by lottery.

He said:

“As I speak to you now, the man sells things on the street in the traffic jams. He was to go with a girl but she now sells roasted corn.

“They are all in this country and one day, I will let them come and tell the story themselves”.

Great Ampong

Also, he revealed:

“Meanwhile, as we speak, two of the pastor’s children are in the UK”.

The artist said that he would allow God’s word to control him rather than going to a pastor.

He noted:

“In all honesty, it’s unlike me to follow things like, ‘Our church says, my pastor says’”.

Great Ampong

He stressed:

“Anything from the Bible, from Genesis to Revelations, I know. I have gone to Israel to learn”.

Great Ampong

Concerning his two trips to Israel during which he was taught by Rabbis, Ampong said he was told to be bold and speak the truth even if what he learned there will make people brand him as anti-Christ.

He further noted:

“A whole lot, however, some things are not meant for public consumption. If we go out and say the things we saw and learned many churches will close down”.

“Truth for food or money. The truth is simply the truth. If people will reject you for saying the truth, still go ahead and say it”.

Great Ampong bemoans the rate of murder cases in Ghana

Great Ampong bemoaned the rate at which murder cases are coming up in Ghana.

He complained:

“People kill freely. Today, someone has killed his girlfriend, tomorrow someone stabs his girlfriend because he bought her a phone and saw someone else on it while she doesn’t call him – how much is a phone? So people are killing because there’s no strict law that stipulates that what you do to someone will also be done to you”.

Great Ampong

He warned that the youth of Ghana are agitated and wild, stating that:

“If we don’t get a strict law and someone or a leader who is strong to tame things we’ll soon not be able to freely and safely go out of our homes, people will be robbed in broad daylight”.

Great Ampong

Citing the recent bullion van attack in Ablekuma, he argued:

“If an armed policeman can be shot and robbed, imagine what will happen to someone like me who has nothing on him and moves in a taxi. When the youth become agitated and wild, you need a strict law to calm them down and we need it now”.

Great Ampong

He explained what he meant by a strict law. He said:

“A strict law like if you kill someone, you should also be killed. Even God said it. The one who lives by the sword dies by the sword”.

Great Ampong

He pressed his argument that with people groaning for justice, no amount of money brought into Ghana [as foreign direct investment] will make it prosper.

He said:

“We all have to understand and accept that truth is the foundation God has built the world on. All our suffering is because we lack truth. It is not a financial issue.

“If you like bring all the money in the world to Ghana if we don’t get someone who will be truthful and do with the money as he says he will – say providing toilets, factories, potable water – nothing will work”.

Great Ampong

He added further:

“Ghana will not progress irrespective of the party in power, be it NDC or NPP. We need someone who will, without compromise, jail you for financial corruption for everyone in Ghana to see. This fellow spent public funds, he’s been arrested and jailed. This fellow killed someone and he’s also been killed. If not, you can even bring America to Ghana and still, we will not prosper. I’m telling you the truth”.
