Kennedy Agyapong’s Campaign Team Focused

A member of Kennedy Agyapong’s Campaign Team, Mr. William Kusi, has stated that his team is very focused on the campaign.

This came in response to the cautioning of Mr. Agyapong by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Antwi Boasiako on some “threatening” remarks from Mr. Agyapong’s campaign in Kumasi.

Mr. William Kusi touted the campaign as the most focused and expressed his surprise at Mr. Antwi Boasiako’s, also known as Chairman Wontumi, caution to his team’ to focus on issues.

“Amongst the candidates, he is the one who has toured this country the most. Out of the 275, he is left with 39. None of the candidates have done that and as we speak now, we are doing submarine camping, meeting the delegates one by one. So it is unfortunate for Chairman Wontumi to sit in his comfort and say that one should concentrate on his campaign.”

William Kusi

He further debunked allegations from Mr. Antwi Boasiako that suggested their campaign was attacking persons rather than focusing on issues.

“We are concentrating on a campaign and when we campaign we do not discuss people, we discuss issues. He says I am the number one servant of the party so vote for me. Why am I number one, I bought almost 700 pick-ups for the party. I have paid for congress, I have paid GHS 2 million when we were going for a run-off, I have bought T-shirts, and I paid to get NPP to get the majority in parliament when there was a split.”

William Kusi

Kennedy Is The Most Popular Candidate

According to Mr. Kusi, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has become the most popular person following his hard work and campaign across the country. This has attracted some offers for his withdrawal from the race.

“So he has concentrated on his campaign and you can see he is now the most popular person. You remember that there were rumors that we should step down and offers were made. That was all over the media and we were interviewed asking if your man was stepping down. They had done a survey and realized he was winning, they came to him and said please, name a price and step down so that our preferred candidate can go, he said no!”

William Kusi

Therefore, he believes Chairman Wontumi will be disingenuous if he says he is not aware of how popular Mr. Agyapong has become due to how he has addressed pertinent issues to the delegates.

He further highlighted the plans and issues Mr. Agyapong addressed on his campaign tour in the region.

“On the Kumasi platform, he spoke about his play for the Ashanti region, mentioned Lake Bosomtwe and other places, and the kind of ideas he has towards building the Ashanti region. He also mentioned Magazine as using that as a technology hub for building cars and so it is quite unfortunate that chairman Wontumi believes that his campaign is only attacking personality.”

William Kusi

Also, Mr. Kusi emphasized that the remarks from Mr. Agyapong to Mr. Boasiako were not a threat but only a dare of him not to persist in using his media outlets to attack him.

“He said Wontumi is a small boy and that is not a threat. He only dared him”, he emphasized.

He further bemoaned the 26th of August happening during the Super Delegate’s Conference and criticized the party leadership for no intervention. According to Mr. Kusi that is the issue Mr. Agyapong raises.

The team’s concern is about ensuring the November 4th elections are free and fair.

He therefore entreated the party leadership to ensure this for them because they will insist they do.
