NPP Kicks Out Hopeson Adorye, Others For Declaring Support For Alan

Sacked NPP members.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sacked Hopeson Adorye, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow and Boniface Abubakar Saddique from the party.

According to the NPP, its leadership has taken notice of recent activities of Hopeson Adorye, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow and Boniface Abubakar Saddique.

The party noted that the activities include publicly endorsing the candidature of a person other than the duly elected Presidential Candidate of the Party, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.

Contained in a statement dated November 20, 2023, signed by the general secretary of the NPP, Justin Koduah-Frimpong, it stated that in spite of their flagrant breach of the Party’s Constitution particularly Articles 3(5) (A)(4) and 3(9)(1), the afore-named men still hold themselves out as members of the NPP.

Justifying its stance, the party noted that for the avoidance of doubt, Article 3(5) (A) (4) of the NPP Constitution enjoins all members of the Party to “abide by and publicly uphold the decisions of the Party”.

Additionally, it explained that Article 3(9) (1) of the constitution provides that a member of the party who stands as an independent candidate against the officially elected member of the party, or who joins or declares his or her support for another political party, or for an independent candidate when the party has sponsored a candidate in a general or by-election, automatically forfeits his or her membership of the party.

“In line with these constitutional provisions, it is the view of the NPP that Hopeson Adorye, Nana Ohene Ntow, Bonniface Abubakar Saddique and Yaw Buaben Asamoah have automatically forfeited their membership of the party. They are therefore, no longer members of the party.”

NPP vow to win 2024 general election

Furthermore, the party reckoned that the attitude of the four staunch NPP members does not merit a place within the party.

In light of this, the NPP entreated its members to remain true to their duties as per Article 3(5) of the party constitution.

“We further call upon our members to bear in mind that the party’s focus is to unite its ranks and rally the support of Ghanaians to make history by winning the 2024 general election.”

New Patriotic Party

Prior to this, former Security Coordinator at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), Hopeson Adorye, indicated that he has split his allegiance between Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He stated that it is no secret that he was a big supporter of the former Trades and Industry Minister who broke away from the NPP. That notwithstanding, Mr Adorye stated that he still owes him his loyalty.

Mr Adorye maintained that he was “going to vote for Alan Kyerematen on December 7, 2024, and then parliamentary I will give it to my party NPP”. He emphasized that he is a party member and has paid his dues.

Meanwhile, the Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has revealed that Ghana needs a technocrat like the flagbearer of the NPP Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

He indicated that Dr Bawumia has the ability to unite Ghanaians around the common goal of improving their living conditions.

“Ghana does not need the incompetent and populist flip-flopper to come back. Ghana needs a humble and sober Dr. Bawumia who is a demonstrated technocrat and unifier to unite Ghanaians around the common goal of improving conditions for all.”
