Renowned media personality Nana Yaa Brefo has opened up about how her impasse with actress Nana Ama McBrown affected her psychologically and how she dealt with it.

In narrating her ordeal, she recounted a moment when somebody called her to be careful about his son because some people were planning to hurt him.

She stated that the attacks she faced from various perspectives had a toll on her to the extent that she did not want to be in the mainstream media to avoid such situations.

Nana Yaa Brefo recalled the attacks that came her way after she had an issue with McBrown.

“I think after McBrown’s issue, I wanted to relax. I wanted to be in the background and not completely stop. Because somebody can hit you personally, it’s not about the job. If it’s about the job, I don’t mind. But if it becomes personal, you have kids, you have family,” she said.

“They attack you, sometimes they want to hurt your family. Somebody called me and warned me to be careful about my son when he goes to school because some people are planning something against him. Another time, a different person called me and told me, ‘Well, I’ve been asked to do this to you, but I’m telling you because I don’t want to do it’. It’s scary, she recounted,” she further stated.

This comes after Nana Yaa Brefo joined Media General as a journalist after she exited Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) some months ago where she served as the co-host for the Morning Show and Head of News TV.

Explaining her decision to leave, Nana Yaa Brefo expressed a desire to explore new opportunities and avenues in her career. Her transition to Media General marks a significant move in her professional journey.

It will be recalled that Nana Yaa Brefo during her time at Adom TV interviewed McBrown and there was a controversy due to a question that she asked the actress that didn’t sit well with her.

Their relationship has not been on good terms but it remains to be seen if McBrown and Nana Yaa Brefo will reconcile since both of them are working in the same media organization.

She stated that it is challenging for her when she is subjected to vehement criticism by the public due to some questions she might have asked the guest that the viewers misunderstood.

Nana Yaa Brefo noted that even though she is not comfortable with chastising, she would not allow such situations to make her lose interest in her job as a journalist.

The journalist bemoaned the harsh criticisms she faces from the public and how she deals with them.

“Ghanaians are harsh. Sometimes they don’t understand the job we do, and sometimes the people you interview don’t get what you’re doing. Or probably there’s an issue. You want to get to the bottom of that particular issue, and how you ask the question, they take it differently,” she said.

“They probably feel you’re trying to get them down there or something without necessarily perusing the question you asked. So it’s not easy. It’s not been easy, but I’m used to it. I will continue to do this every day; I don’t know when I’ll stop because Ghanaians are not ready for me to stop,” she stated.

Nana Yaa Brefo has been at the center of controversy on several occasions due to her outburst nature.
