Banky W Shares Insights on Navigating Social Media Validation

Nigerian singer and politician Banky W has shared nuggets of wisdom with the public on how to handle seeking validation on social media.

Banky W responding to how he and his wife, Adesua Etomi-Wellington are able to keep their lives private, stressed that they have learned not to be controlled by people’s opinions.

“Don’t get your validation from the comments section which is very hard to do in today’s times. This is because when you post something you immediately want to go and see how many likes and comments. The lesson is to not get the validation from the comment section. You can get the humor from there.”

Bank W

Banky W explained that even though it is human nature to care, it’s best to not let other people’s opinions control oneself.

“It is unrealistic to not care because you will care about what people say. The reason why you take a shower, brush your teeth, and get dressed to look pretty is because you care what people think.

“It’s good to care but it’s bad when you let that control you. I think that we’ve gotten to a dangerous point in the world where we’ve gone past the point of caring about people’s opinions to being controlled by them.”

He further noted that people do things just to trend and say things to go viral or make things up.

“That’s something that Susu and I have to continually learn and remind ourselves and that’s how we try to carry ourselves and navigate the world that we’re in now.”

The minister shared his insights on the relationship between money and happiness.

He emphasized that money is not the key to happiness, citing a personal encounter with a billionaire who despite having immense wealth, was still unhappy and eventually took his own life.

Banky W explained that every person has a void within them that can only be filled by God, and attempting to fill it with material possessions, wealth, or other temporal things will never bring lasting satisfaction.

He acknowledged that a certain amount of money is necessary for a comfortable life, but it does not guarantee happiness.

Banky W’s experience with the billionaire, who was worth billions, served as a stark reminder that wealth alone cannot bring joy or fulfillment.

This encounter reinforced his belief that true happiness and purpose can only be found by filling the void within with something greater than material possessions.

Banky W Speaks On Juggling His Work, Being a Father

Nigerian musician, actor, politician, minister, and businessman Banky W is also a proud father of a young son and husband to the equally famous Adesua Etomi.

Banky W opened up about fatherhood and the hardest part of being one, especially with being so busy and over 40.

“I do a lot of things: I’m a businessman, I have a few companies I’m invested in, that I work in and work for, I’m in ministry, I’m a husband, I’m in society, I’m always doing one thing or the other. So it means my days are pretty busy. Prior to having a child, when you come home, you’re just going to sit down, take your shoes off, hang out with madam, relax, and have a good time.

“But now, immediately I walk in the door, it’s almost like my son has seen his favorite superhero and he immediately wants me to play with him. He doesn’t care that I’m 40+ and that I’ve been working on my feet all day, and I’ve been in traffic, and I’ve been in meetings. He’s just like “papa, come and play” and that’s all he cares about in that moment in time. He wants me to chase him around the room, or play ball, or something. And that can be pretty exhausting.”

Banky W

Banky W also added that as exhausting as it is, he would not have it another way because he also enjoys being around his son.

“We prayed for a strong-willed child, so when God now answers, it’s you know. And no matter how tired you are, you have to play.

But again, there is joy in it, right? Because regardless of how tired I feel, there’s actually nothing I’d rather do at that point in my day than roll around on the carpet with my boy.”

Banky W also triumphed over cancer for the fourth time, following a recurrence of a rare strain of skin cancer tumors that first appeared a decade ago.

In a heartfelt message on his social media, Banky W shared his journey and the power of faith that has carried him through his health battles.

He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of his wife, family, friends, and pastors, as well as the medical professionals who played a crucial role in his recovery.

Specifically, he acknowledged Dr. Onyewu of the Center for Advanced Speciality Surgery and Dr. Adenuga of Euracare for their exceptional care and expertise.

He offered his testimony as a source of encouragement to others facing challenges, reminding them of the greater power within them.

Celebrating his latest victory, he stated this would be the final battle with cancer, affirming his belief in continued good health and the promise of victory through faith.
