NDC’s Audio Evidence Doctored- NPP Claims

Henry Nana Boakye on Sammy Gyamfi and corruption

Henry Nana Boakye, National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),

Henry Nana Boakye, National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, has alleged that a preliminary investigation revealed the NDC’s audio recording implicating the Attorney General was tampered with.

As such, he suggested that the tape was edited and manipulated by cutting and splicing segments together to create a misleading narrative.

Additionally, Nana Boakye pointed out that the audio recording in question has two noticeable breaks – the first occurring at 9 minutes and 13 seconds, and the second at 10 minutes and 19 seconds – further fueling suspicions of tampering and manipulation.

“Preliminarily findings: A break in the spectrum of an audio is a clear sign of an audio that has been tampered with … i.e., edited to remove or add to the original audio, the ambient background sound is equally suspicious”.

Henry Nana Boakye

Moreover, the NPP patriot asserted that the voice-overs are replete with inconsistencies, distortions, and incoherent segments, which he believes are deliberate attempts to discredit and slander the Attorney General through a carefully orchestrated scheme.

As such, he accused the opposition NDC of trying to subvert the legal process and prematurely halt the prosecution of Ato Forson by releasing the manipulated audio, warning that their scheme would ultimately fail and not succeed as intended.

Furthermore, Nana Boakye declared emphatically that, for the sake of clarity, the outstanding achievements of this Attorney-General will not be diminished or undermined by such unfounded and malicious allegations.

Nana Boakye also made it clear that the NDC’s demand for the Attorney General’s resignation is utterly unrealistic, as Godfred Dame will remain unwavering in his commitment to his role, resolutely staying the course and fulfilling his obligations despite the opposition’s unfounded attempts to discredit him.

Attorney General Not Immune to Disciplinary Action

Meanwhile, Kwaku Ansa-Asare, former Director of the Ghana School of Law, has disagreed with the notion that the Attorney General is above disciplinary action, emphasizing that the General Legal Council (GLC) has the authority to take disciplinary measures against the Attorney General, if necessary.

According to Kwaku Ansa-Asare, as a member of the General Legal Council, the Attorney-General is bound by the same ethical codes and professional standards as all other lawyers, and therefore, is equally subject to disciplinary action if he violates these standards.

“My assessment of the situation is this; unless the Attorney-General is relieved of his position, he will continue to be a member of the General Legal Counsel, and it is that same counsel that is being invited and urged to consider applying the rod.”

Kwaku Ansa-Asare

He additionally pointed out the Attorney-General’s alleged violations of the legal profession’s code of conduct, emphasizing that such transgressions warrant disciplinary action and must be addressed through the appropriate channels to maintain the integrity of the legal profession.

Furthermore, Mr. Ansa-Asare pointed out that the President’s failure to take disciplinary action against the Attorney General raises questions about his commitment to self-discipline and accountability, critical qualities for effective leadership, and setting a positive example for others to follow.

According to Mr. Ansa-Asare, although the President possesses the implicit legal authority to discipline errant ministers, he must first demonstrate exemplary conduct himself, upholding the highest ethical standards, in order to establish credibility, set a positive precedent, and preserve the dignity and integrity of the presidency.

“He has to do some self-introspection where he has gone wrong, search his own soul, where he has gone wrong, and correct it, right the wrong, but that does not mean that he does not derogate from the fact that he must master the political will and courage to fire Godfred Dame”.

Kwaku Ansa-Asare

Furthermore, he highlighted that Article 296 of the Constitution vests the President with implicit powers to hold errant ministers accountable, empowering him to take disciplinary action against those who violate their duties or engage in misconduct.
