The NDC Communication Bureau in Awutu Senya East Constituency has issued a statement vehemently denouncing the violent clash that took place at the Electoral Commission’s office in Kasoa on Sunday, 2nd June, morning, expressing grave concern and dismay at the incident.
The NDC condemned the recent incident as a stark example of the NPP’s chronic culture of aggression and lawlessness, allegedly perpetuated by elements affiliated with the party under the auspices of Hawa Koomson, the NPP Member of Parliament, who, the NDC claims appears to have sponsored and directed the violent act.
The NDC also pointed out that a crucial agreement had been reached between the police and the two dominant political parties in the Awutu Senya East Constituency, just a day earlier, aimed at preventing the transportation of external supporters to influence vote transfers.
“Despite this agreement, at approximately 2:00 AM today, the NPP blatantly violated this accord by busing in about 50 thugs to the center. This unlawful act led to an immediate confrontation with both the police and members of the NDC present at the scene”.

Furthermore, the NDC stated that the arrival of Ato Koomson, Hawa Koomson’s son, with a group of additional individuals, marked a turning point in the violence, as they launched a brutal attack on NDC members, causing the situation to deteriorate rapidly.
The NDC further reported that its members, vastly outnumbered and outgunned, were subjected to merciless beatings, resulting in two members fainting and another, Asmah, sustaining severe injuries, with profuse bleeding.
As such, the NDC declared that this shocking incident serves as a stark reminder of the pressing need for prompt intervention and justice, emphasizing the importance of taking immediate action to curb further violence and ensure accountability.
Moreover, the NDC stated that it is keeping a watchful eye on the police’s handling of this incident, given the troubling history of violence against NDC supporters, allegedly masterminded by Hawa Koomson, and will be scrutinizing their actions closely to ensure justice is served.
The party also expressed concern over the police’s decision to transport Daniel Techie Mensah, the NDC Constituency Organizer, to the Police Headquarters in Accra, which has raised eyebrows and sparked worry among party members.

NDC Demands Independent Investigation into Violent Incidents
Furthermore, in light of these alarming events, the NDC is calling for an immediate and independent investigation, to get to the bottom of the matter and hold those responsible accountable.
As such, the party demanded that the police must carry out a comprehensive, transparent, and impartial investigation into the incident, leaving no stone unturned to identify and bring all culprits to justice, without fear or favor, regardless of political allegiance or affiliation.
Moreover, the NDC urged the police to guarantee the security and well-being of all citizens, with particular attention to NDC members, who have been persistently subjected to intimidation, harassment, and violence, and ensure that adequate measures are taken to prevent further attacks and guarantee their safety.
The party also appealed to all stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, to honor and uphold the commitments made to ensure peaceful and orderly electoral processes and to prioritize the safety and well-being of all citizens throughout the electoral cycle.
“We stand firm in our commitment to justice and the protection of our members. The NDC will continue to advocate for the rights and safety of all individuals in the Awutu Senya East Constituency”.

Meanwhile, according to the NPP, an alleged NDC supporter brandished a knife during a confrontation between two individuals affiliated with both parties and allegedly stabbed the Minister’s son, Ato Koomson, in the chest.
