In a significant development for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Ashanti Regional NPP Council of Elders has successfully brokered reconciliation between the party and Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ejisu Constituency and former Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways.

This reconciliation marks a pivotal moment for the NPP, signaling a return to unity and strengthening the party’s resolve ahead of the December 7th general elections.

The meeting, characterized by candid and open discussions, aimed at mending past grievances and reintegrating Aduomi into the party.

The Council of Elders extended an invitation to Aduomi, which he graciously accepted. This gesture set the stage for a series of constructive dialogues that addressed the issues that had previously led to his departure.

Hon. Aduomi, in his remarks, expressed his decision to put past misunderstandings behind him and announced his unconditional return to the NPP.

Hon. Aduomi emphasized his deep-rooted loyalty to the party, stating, “My umbilical cord is planted in NPP and the NPP runs through the veins of my blood.”

This poignant declaration highlighted his long-standing association with the NPP and his commitment to its principles and future.

The return of Aduomi is seen as a significant boost for the NPP, particularly in the Ejisu Constituency and the broader Ashanti Region. Mrs. Rosemond Appiah Menka, the Chairperson of the Council of Elders, lauded Aduomi for his decision.

Mrs. Appiah Menka highlighted his influence and the positive impact his return would have on the party’s fortunes in the upcoming December 7 elections.

“There is no doubt that Owusu Aduomi is a force to reckon with,” she remarked, underscoring the strategic advantage his reintegration brings to the NPP.

A Turning Point for Ejisu Constituency

Dr. Moussa Jebir Kebir, Vice-Chairman of the Council of Elders, echoed this sentiment, appealing to NPP members to embrace Aduomi’s return wholeheartedly. This unified front is crucial for strengthening the party’s internal cohesion and presenting a solidified stance to the electorate.

Kwabena Owusu Aduomi’s political journey has been marked by his service as an MP and his role as Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways. His decision to run as an independent candidate in the Ejisu by-election was a significant departure from his previous affiliations.

The by-election, necessitated by circumstances leading to the vacancy, saw Aduomi challenge the NPP’s chosen candidate, creating a fissure within the party’s local structure.

However, his recent announcement to rejoin the NPP signifies a turning point. Aduomi pledged to work towards reconciling his supporters with the party, thereby mending the divisions that had arisen. This commitment is expected to galvanize support for the NPP, restoring unity and enhancing its electoral prospects.

The reconciliation between Kwabena Owusu Aduomi and the NPP serves as a testament to the party’s commitment to internal unity and its strategic focus on electoral success.

As the campaign season intensifies, the NPP’s ability to navigate internal dynamics and external challenges will be crucial in determining its performance in the December 7th elections.
