In a powerful show of support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), former National Chairman Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has endorsed the presidential candidacy of John Dramani Mahama and his running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

Speaking at a campaign rally in the Tema East Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo articulated his belief that this ticket represents the ideal leadership to navigate Ghana out of its current economic turmoil.

Addressing an enthusiastic crowd of NDC supporters, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo conveyed his confidence that the Mahama-Opoku-Agyemang duo offers the best hope for Ghana’s future.

Dr. Ofosu Ampofo praised Prof. Opoku-Agyemang as a pioneering academic, emphasizing her significant role as the first female Vice Chancellor of a public university in Ghana.

“That is why our incoming President, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, chose her as his running mate. This ticket is the best to secure the future of this country and to provide relief in the perilous economic environment we find ourselves in.”

Dr. Ofosu Ampofo further underscored Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s contributions to education were, particularly her tenure as Minister of Education, where she spearheaded the introduction of technical universities and launched progressively free education at the Senior High School level.

Dr. Ofosu Ampofo did not shy away from critiquing the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), particularly targeting Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He accused the NPP of misleading Ghanaians during the 2016 elections with promises that Dr. Bawumia, touted as an economic expert, would resolve the country’s financial challenges.

However, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo pointed out that under Dr. Bawumia’s stewardship, the country has witnessed the highest Cedi-to-Dollar exchange rate in its history, alongside the collapse of numerous businesses, including banks.

“Dr. Bawumia has nothing new to offer Ghanaians. The economic hardships we are experiencing today are a direct result of their failed policies. We must reject his leadership in the upcoming elections,” Dr. Ofosu Ampofo urged, reinforcing his call for voters to support the NDC’s presidential ticket.

Emphasizing the brighter future that awaits Ghanaians under the leadership of Mahama and Opoku-Agyemang, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo expressed confidence in their capabilities to manage the nation’s affairs effectively.

Dr. Ofosu Ampofo urged voters to cast their ballots overwhelmingly for the NDC in the December 7 general elections, asserting that the party is best positioned to address the pressing economic issues facing the country.

Calls for Massive Voter Participation

In her remarks, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang echoed Dr. Ofosu Ampofo’s sentiments, reiterating the NDC’s commitment to implementing policies designed to alleviate the economic hardships plaguing Ghanaians.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang outlined several key initiatives, including the introduction of a 24-Hour Economy, a National Apprenticeship Program, a Women Development Bank, and the Big Push initiative, all aimed at fostering economic recovery and development.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged registered voters to actively participate in the ongoing voter exhibition exercise, emphasizing the importance of making their voices heard in the upcoming elections.

“We must all come together and vote massively for John Dramani Mahama and the NDC parliamentary candidates. Our collective effort is crucial in securing a brighter future for our country.”

The NDC is determined to make a strong case for why the Mahama-Opoku-Agyemang ticket is the right choice for Ghana at this critical juncture. With the combined experience of Mahama and Opoku-Agyemang, the party is optimistic about its chances in the upcoming electoral contest.
