Former First Lady Visits Hohoe to Boost NDC Campaign 

Former First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, has made a notable visit to the Hohoe constituency, aiming to strengthen the campaign efforts for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Worlanyi Tsekpo. 

Her engagement in this vibrant community underscores the NDC’s commitment to fostering relationships and garnering support ahead of the upcoming elections.

According to Joyce Mogtari Bawah, the spokesperson for the Mahama campaign, Mrs. Mahama engaged with the queen mothers of the Gbi traditional area during her visit, introducing Tsekpo, the Hohoe to these community leaders.

“In her interaction, they discussed issues affecting the development of women and children in their communities and how the administration of John Dramani Mahama will support them. 

“As the President of the Lordina Foundation, Mrs. Mahama’s visit to Hohoe was marked by a significant gesture. She donated a substantial quantity of much-needed hospital equipment to Hohoe Regional Hospital, a move that will significantly enhance healthcare delivery to the community”.

According to Joyce Bawah, the donation was made in response to an urgent appeal from the NDC parliamentary candidate and included a wide range of essential hospital equipment. 

The NDC communicator indicated that this contribution is expected to significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide quality healthcare services.

She noted that among the donated items were hospital beds, incubators, baby cots, medical carts, wheelchairs, stethoscopes, and kitchenware. 

The donation, Bawah revealed, also included everyday utility items such as irons and kettles, which are crucial for the day-to-day operations of the hospital.

Accordingly, Charles Tokornu, the Hospital Administrator, expressed his profound gratitude to Mrs. Mahama for her generous support. 

He acknowledged the significant impact that the donated equipment would have on the hospital’s capacity to provide quality healthcare services. 

Tokornu emphasised that such a contribution comes at a critical time, as the hospital has been striving to meet the increasing healthcare needs of the community.

Furthermore, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama expressed her delight, stating that she and the NDC are thrilled to provide the wide range of essential items. 

The Former First Lady emphasised that these additional resources are crucial for delivering the highest quality of care to patients, ensuring that the hospital can better meet the healthcare needs of the community.

“In her remarks, Mrs. Mahama commended the dedication of the health staff despite the logistical challenges they face. She assured them of her ongoing commitment to supporting the health sector”.

Highlighting the former First Lady’s extensive contributions to healthcare, Joyce Bawah Mogtari emphasized that, through the Lordina Foundation, Mrs. Mahama has been a consistent advocate for healthcare development and access for over two decades. 

She pointed out that the foundation has spearheaded numerous projects aimed at improving healthcare delivery, particularly in underserved communities. 

Recent initiatives include the construction of modern maternity and children’s wards in the Bole and Nkoranza districts, designed to provide specialized care and reduce maternal and child mortality rates. 

Mogtari further noted that these efforts are part of Mrs. Mahama’s broader mission to strengthen the nation’s healthcare infrastructure, ensuring that more Ghanaians have access to quality medical services regardless of their location. 

This ongoing commitment, she added, underscores Mrs. Mahama’s dedication to improving the lives of families and communities across the country.

Accordingly, Worlanyo Tsekpo, the parliamentary candidate for Hohoe, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Mahama for her timely intervention. 

He highlighted the neglect the hospital has faced over the past eight years and reassured the community that a future NDC government would prioritize addressing the pressing challenges in the health sector. 

Tsekpo emphasized the critical importance of revitalizing healthcare services to ensure that all residents receive the quality care they rightfully deserve and need for their well-being.
