I RESIGN!
The Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, has resigned from his position after being asked to tend in his resignation by President Akufo-Addo, today.
Mr Ahenkorah, who is the Member of Parliament for Tema West has received massive backlash in a couple of days for visiting a registration centre in his Constituency, even though he knew he had tested positive for COVID-19.
According to a press release signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, the MP in his resignation letter accepted he was wrong.
President Akufo-Addo has, therefore, asked his appointees to “provide leadership, at all times,” in this uncertain period.
Yesterday, Mr Ahenkorah clarified media reports suggesting that he was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after contracting COVID-19. He said it was not true.
According to him, although he had tested positive for Coronavirus, he was rather at the Hospital’s isolation centre receiving treatment.
The news has sensitized the public, with many on social media condemning his actions for putting the public at risk.
