NGIC Launches 5G Backbone to Drive Ghana’s Digital Transformation

Next Gen Infraco (NGIC) has reaffirmed its commitment as the backbone of Ghana’s 5G infrastructure.

The company emphasized its mission to empower telecommunications providers with robust network capabilities essential for delivering high-speed, reliable 5G services across the country. 

According to NGIC, this initiative plays a pivotal role in advancing Ghana’s Digital Agenda 2030 and aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, marking a transformative milestone in Ghana’s journey toward becoming a digitally advanced and globally competitive nation.

Through this initiative, NGIC seeks not only to enhance connectivity but also to drive economic growth, digital inclusion, and technological progress throughout Ghana.

“Ghana’s premier 50 wholesale infrastructure provider, today announced the launch of 5G services in Ghana in collaboration with global technology leaders Nokia, Radisys, and Tech Mahindra. 

“With the launch theme, ‘SG: Accelerating Ghana’s Digital Transformation’, NGIC aims to lay the foundation for unparalleled connectivity, driving innovation and inclusive economic growth”.

In a statement, the company emphasized that by delivering essential infrastructure for widespread 5G adoption, it is poised to unlock vast new opportunities across sectors such as healthcare, education, commerce, and more, driving significant digital empowerment across Ghana. 

This infrastructure, NGIC noted, will not only support advanced services but also enable transformative applications that can enhance everyday life and bolster economic growth.

NGIC explained that this effort represents a new era of connectivity and innovation. By adopting a wholesale infrastructure model, NGIC allows telecommunications providers the flexibility to expand their service offerings without the extensive costs and complexities of building their own 5G networks. 

This approach reduces barriers to entry for providers, allowing them to bring 5G capabilities to a broader audience.

The company also highlighted that this model is key to enhancing the accessibility and affordability of 5G services, helping to bridge Ghana’s digital divide. 

NGIC noted that it aims to ensure that all Ghanaians can experience the benefits of advanced connectivity, supporting greater social inclusion and economic resilience nationwide.

NGIC To Begin 5G Rollout in Major Ghanaian Cities

Next Gen Infraco further announced that its strategic 5G network rollout in Ghana will commence in major cities such as Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi, with additional urban centers to follow by the end of 2024.

The company noted that full nationwide coverage, including rural and remote areas, is projected for completion by 2026, marking a major milestone in expanding digital connectivity.

NGIC explained that by leveraging its extensive infrastructure, telecommunications providers will be able to swiftly and efficiently deliver 5G services, fostering sustainable growth, innovation, and enhanced digital inclusivity for communities across the country.

“Collaborating with Global Technology Leaders In partnership with Nokia, Radisys, and Tech Mahindra, NGIC is delivering a world-class 5G network that meets the highest standards of reliability, security, and performance. 

“Prioritizing Security and Privacy Data security and privacy are central to NGIC’s approach, with comprehensive cybersecurity measures in place to protect users as 56 adoption expands”.

NGIC emphasized that by implementing advanced encryption methods and maintaining proactive monitoring, it is committed to creating a secure digital environment where Ghanaians can confidently participate in the digital economy. 

According to NGIC, this approach is designed to protect user data and ensure the reliability of digital services, fostering trust in the expanding digital landscape.

The company highlighted that this 5G launch, in partnership with key industry players, marks a pivotal new chapter for Ghana. 

According to NGIC, the initiative reflects a shared dedication to driving technological innovation, supporting economic empowerment, and promoting sustainable development that reaches all communities, from urban hubs to rural areas. 

This collective effort aims to enhance digital inclusivity, create job opportunities, and lay the foundation for a more resilient, tech-driven economy across Ghana, setting the stage for a prosperous digital future accessible to all Ghanaians.
