NPP Nkoranza North Expels 19 Members for Anti-Party Conduct

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nkoranza North Constituency has officially expelled 19 of its members for anti-party conduct, effective immediately.

This expulsion comes after a unanimous decision taken at an expanded constituency executive committee meeting, which included constituency executives, the Council of Elders, and the Council of Patrons.

“The National and Regional Party leadership and the General Public are hereby informed that the following personalities have ceased to be members of the party, taking effect today in accordance with Article 3, Clause 9, Section1 and Article 4, Section 7 subsection 1(9) and (h) of the Party’s Constitution (2017) as amended”.

Daniel Effah-Boáchie, NPP Constituency Secretary, Nkoranza North

The expelled individuals have been indefinitely banned from presenting themselves as members of the NPP, holding any party positions, attending party meetings, participating in party activities, and using any party symbols or flags.

According to the letter, the expulsion follows several petitions lodged against the affected individuals, accusing them of supporting a rival political party and campaigning for an independent parliamentary candidate during the crucial December 7, 2024, general elections.

The letter further stated that their misconduct continued during the just-ended District Assembly and Unit Committee elections held on May 13, 2025, further worsening their standing with the party.

Further Investigations

The statement adds that the matter has also been referred to the Constituency Disciplinary Committee for further investigation, signalling that the party intends to pursue a thorough review of the conduct of the expelled members to maintain integrity and discipline.

The names of the expelled members—19 in total—include Baffoe Pim Gabriel, Kwaku Kwarteng, Kwaku Duah, Opoku Kyeremeh Sampson, Adusei Abdulai, Adofowaa Bertha, Adu Emmanuel, and Eric Owusu Antwi.

Others include Effah Samuel, Boahen Kwasi, Amponsah Michael, Boakye Princeford, Agyeiwaa Grace, Owusu Gifty, Baah Isaac, Anthony Amponsah, Evans Ohene Gyan, Opoku Daniel, and Attah Kwasi.

Most of them are from various communities across the constituency, including Dromankese, Bono Manso, and Bonte.

This is not the first disciplinary action taken by the party in the constituency. In an earlier incident on August 2, 2023, the constituency secretariat received petitions accusing two members, Mr. Adu Antwi Pius and Mr. Aikins Peter—for acting as communication directors for an independent candidate.

In response, the Constituency Executives called an emergency meeting and referred the matter to the Disciplinary Committee.  Despite being summoned twice, both individuals reportedly failed to appear before the committee.

As a result, the committee recommended their suspension, and though they were directed to step aside from their positions, that decision, according to the letter, still stands pending further action.

The swift and uncompromising nature of these expulsions, according to the release, reflects a broader strategy by the NPP to protect party cohesion following its historic defeat in the 2024 election.

The party leadership seems eager to make it clear that insubordination and betrayal of the party’s electoral interests will not be accepted, as internal tensions rage across the nation over claims of favouritism, grassroots dissatisfaction, and independent candidacies.

Such internal decisions, although painful in the short term, may be intended to strengthen party unity and serve as a deterrent to those who might consider quitting in the future as the opposition party get ready for a difficult and competitive political environment ahead of the general elections in 2028.
