Falz Denies Relationship with Bobrisky

Folarin Falana, the popular Nigerian singer, who is known professionally as Falz, has denied any romantic involvement with controversial crossdresser Bobrisky.

This is coming amid the ongoing legal battles with popular social media critic, VeryDarkMan.

Recall that VeryDarkMan, also known as VDM, had last year leaked the singer’s alleged phone conversation with Bobrisky while in prison. In response, the singer filed a defamation suit against VDM.

The development sparked widespread homosexual speculation about the singer. However, giving an update about the court case, Falz stated that VDM has yet to “enter the defense.”

“Update on the court case, very much still in court. There’s a substantive suit that my dad and I are alleging defamation. We filed the case, and ever since we filed the case, they have never entered a defense. Instead, they entered a preliminary objection saying the court doesn’t have jurisdiction to hear the case or something.

“As of the last date, I was in court. The court has thrown out that preliminary objection. Now they have to enter a defense, or the court will just go on to rule on the case. So that’s the update. I can’t really say much about the subject of the current litigation, so I will leave it there.”

Speaking about his relationship with Bobrisky, Falz denied having a relationship with the crossdresser, noting that he only tried to help.

“I never had any relationship with Bobrisky before that phone call. He messaged me on Instagram and said, ‘I’m in this case and I want to speak to you about how you can help.’ And you know, thousands of people messaged me about similar stuff like that. This is not a special case; it’s not exceptional in any way.

“In a lot of those cases, I will give them an audience, like what is the P, how can I help? Compassionately. Little did I know. Anyways, as they say, once bitten, twice shy. At the end of the day, I’m not going to, maybe I’m not going to help anyone again in my life, but maybe I will be much more conscious.”

The popular Nigerian rapper and activist shared his thoughts on the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, two years into his term.

According to the rapper, Nigeria has not moved forward but rather taken steps backward under the current leadership.

Falz openly criticized Tinubu’s government, saying that the promises made before the election have not been fulfilled and that Nigerians are still waiting for real progress. “That more than anything, we’ve moved backwards,” he said.

“There is not much progress that has been recorded. I think I remember the campaign slogan being ‘Emilokan,’ which translates to, ‘it’s my turn.’”

Falz

He questioned what exactly the government had planned to do with the “turn” they claimed. He expressed disappointment at the lack of meaningful development or change in the country.

“We are still waiting. Two more years are left. Maybe there is still a plan. But as it stands now, for the first half [of the presidency], we haven’t seen anything.”

Falz

Falz, who is known for using music and activism to speak out on social issues, urged the government to focus on improving the lives of Nigerians, especially as time is running out in the current administration.

Moreover, the rapper and activist is once again putting purpose behind his music, and this time, he’s turning the spotlight on Africa’s collective mindset.

The socially conscious artist revealed that the central message of his upcoming project, The Feast, is rooted in the idea of community. “The message I’m pushing across is ‘community.’ I feel like we need a sense of community because the mentality that we have in this country and Africa is the ‘every man for himself’ one, and it’s not good,” he said.

The rapper went further, highlighting how typical African leaders only look out for themselves and their families, often disregarding everyone else. He stated that even the common man has the same mentality, which needs to change.

“We constantly complain about how the government isn’t good. Why? Because the person in government would just get into power and steal money. So far, he and his family are okay; he wouldn’t care less about anyone else, and that mentality is not okay. We need to think about the collective, every person, and we need to be there for each other.

“The only way we can progress and reach our full potential as a continent is if we move together. That’s the general message of my album, even though it’s not literal. It’s not as intense and direct as some of my other ones. With this one, you need to sit and listen.”
