Recyclers Ghana Ltd. has received renewed government backing following a working visit by the Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Samson Ahi.

The visit to the company’s Shai Hills facility in the Shai-Osudoku District formed part of the Ministry’s wider industrial engagement plan aimed at strengthening export-oriented industries and supporting sustainable economic development.

The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry described the visit as a key step in its strategy to “assess challenges within the manufacturing and recycling sectors” while identifying avenues for targeted policy intervention.

The company’s manager, Mr. Manesh Kumar Jangir, briefed the Deputy Minister on the company’s operational framework and progress since its establishment in 2019. He explained that Recyclers Ghana Ltd. has grown into a major player in Ghana’s value-added export ecosystem, with a recycling capacity now exceeding 28,000 metric tonnes.

“We produce refined lead, plastic chips, granules, and customised aluminium alloy products for export,” Mr. Manesh stated.

He further revealed that the company supplies bespoke aluminium alloys to international markets, including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan. According to the Ministry, the company’s operations support Ghana’s balance of trade by generating foreign exchange and expanding access to high-value industrial markets.

During the tour, Mr. Manesh raised operational challenges limiting the company’s ability to operate at full capacity. Chief among them was the constrained access to scrap aluminium due to intense competition from exporters of raw scrap metal.

“This shortage affects our ability to meet rising international demand,” he said, while calling for government policy support to prioritise local recycling needs over raw material export.

Following the facility tour, which included lead, plastic, and aluminium processing lines, Hon. Samson Ahi commended the company’s sustainable practices and export focus. “Recyclers Ghana Ltd. is an example of what Ghana’s industrial future can look like – green, job-creating, and globally integrated.”

“When facilities like this expand, they become hubs for employment and entrepreneurship,” Hon. Ahi said, noting the company’s role in job creation and economic stability, particularly in addressing youth unemployment and slowing down migration pressures.

He also acknowledged the company’s contribution to foreign exchange earnings, stressing its relevance to stabilising the Ghana cedi amid macroeconomic headwinds.

In a symbolic gesture aligned with the government’s national reforestation and climate action programme, Hon. Ahi planted a tree on the company’s premises. The Ministry noted that this act reflected the administration’s commitment to linking industrial growth with environmental responsibility.

The Ministry further stated that it will continue to strengthen its engagement with private sector actors like Recyclers Ghana Ltd. to identify policy levers that can improve local access to raw materials and drive deeper industrial transformation. “Our collaboration with industry must be practical and responsive,” it said.

Management of Recyclers Ghana Ltd. expressed appreciation for the visit, noting it signaled a readiness on the part of the government to partner with industrial players. “The Deputy Minister’s presence here is not just symbolic – it is a vote of confidence in the future of local industry,” the company stated.

The Ministry maintained that companies operating in alignment with national development goals, including sustainability and export diversification, would continue to receive technical and policy-level support.

It urged industry players to remain proactive in identifying areas of policy reform necessary to strengthen Ghana’s manufacturing base.

The visit comes at a time when Ghana is intensifying its efforts to grow the country’s industrial capacity, reduce raw material exports, and increase value-added production for international markets.
