Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo has become one of the most sought-after forwards in the Premier League, following a standout 2024/25 season with Brentford that saw him hit 20 goals in the top flight.

The 25-year-old’s future is the subject of intense speculation, with Manchester United already testing the waters earlier this month and further interest reportedly emerging from Champions League clubs across Europe.

Since joining the Bees in 2019 from French second-tier side Troyes, the winger has become a key figure at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Over six seasons, Mbeumo has scored 70 goals in 242 appearances across all competitions. His sharp finishing and tactical versatility have made him an important asset for Brentford and a coveted one for clubs with European ambitions.

Manchester United were the first to make a formal move this summer, tabling a bid worth £45 million plus an additional £10 million in performance-related add-ons.

While the Red Devils saw Mbeumo as a potential solution to their attacking inconsistency, the offer was swiftly rejected.

Brentford deemed the proposal far below their valuation of the player, who remains central to their plans going into the new season.

Sources close to the negotiations suggest that Brentford are holding firm, valuing Mbeumo not only for his goalscoring prowess but also for his leadership qualities and big-game temperament.

What makes the situation interesting is the recent appointment of Thomas Frank as head coach of Tottenham Hotspur. Frank, who had a successful spell as Brentford manager and played a pivotal role in Mbeumo’s development, officially took charge at Spurs on Thursday.

His arrival has sparked speculation that the North London club may soon launch a move for the player he helped mould into a Premier League star.

However, as of now, Tottenham are yet to submit a formal bid for Mbeumo. While Spurs fans are excited at the prospect of a potential reunion, the club is said to be weighing up multiple options as they aim to reshape their attack under the new coach.

Interest rom Other Clubs

In addition to interest from English clubs, Mbeumo’s performances have not gone unnoticed on the continent. A number of Champions League regulars in Italy, Germany, and Spain are understood to have made preliminary enquiries about his availability.

While no club has advanced to the bidding stage, the breadth of interest underscores Mbeumo’s growing stature in European football.

Despite the mounting interest, Brentford are under no immediate pressure to sell. Mbeumo’s current contract runs until the summer of 2026, with an option to extend by an additional year.

Crucially, there is no release clause in his deal, meaning any sale would require direct negotiation and Brentford’s full agreement.

That contractual position puts Brentford in a strong negotiating spot. The club has made a name for itself as one of the Premier League’s most well-run outfits, particularly when it comes to player sales.

In recent years, they have commanded premium fees for talents such as Ollie Watkins and David Raya, and they are expected to adopt a similar approach should they eventually entertain offers for Mbeumo.

Sources close to Mbeumo have indicated that he is not agitating for a move but would be open to taking the next step in his career if the right opportunity arises.

Much will depend on how aggressively clubs move in the coming weeks. With the summer transfer window set to open fully in the coming days, Brentford will likely be preparing themselves for further contact regarding their asset.

Whether it’s a reunion with Thomas Frank at Spurs, a record-breaking move to a European club, or a renewed push by Manchester United, one thing is certain; Bryan Mbeumo’s name will trend in this summer’s transfer market.
