Dr. Gideon Boako on support for Bawumia

Dr. Gideon Boako

Dr. Gideon Boako has strongly refuted allegations suggesting that his support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stems solely from loyalty rather than a genuine belief in his capacity to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to victory in the 2028 general elections.

The Tano North Member of Parliament and spokesperson for Dr. Bawumia described the claims as false, malicious, and intended to tarnish his political reputation.

The controversy began when remarks attributed to the Tano North Constituency Secretary surfaced, claiming that Dr. Boako allegedly believed Dr. Bawumia could not win the 2028 elections but continued to support him out of loyalty.

“First and foremost, let me put it on record that I was not present at the delegates’ meeting in Tano North, where these allegations are said to have been made. Any suggestion linking me to such claims is false and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.”

According to the MP, the allegations are baseless and motivated by political mischief designed to create confusion within the party’s ranks.

Dr. Boako described the claims as “a figment of wild imagination,” urging party members and the public to treat them with the contempt they deserve.

Support For Bawumia Rooted in Conviction

Setting the record straight, Dr. Gideon Boako made it clear that his strong backing of Dr. Bawumia stems from genuine belief and conviction, not blind allegiance or mere loyalty. He stressed that his support is driven by confidence in Bawumia’s capabilities and leadership qualities.

Dr. Boako explained that his backing of the Vice President was based on a strong belief that Dr. Bawumia is the “most prepared, credible, experienced, and winnable candidate” to lead the NPP to victory in the upcoming elections.

He called on those who are confident in their preferred candidates to focus on securing a fair victory in the primaries rather than resorting to spreading falsehoods to discredit others.

The Tano North MP highlighted the constituency’s overwhelming endorsement of Dr. Bawumia’s leadership during the 2023 NPP flagbearer elections, where he received a commanding 83% of the votes.

He noted that this strong support reflects the unity and commitment of party members, who remain determined to replicate that decisive victory in future contests.

MP Addresses Attempts To Exploit His Reputation

Dr. Boako issued a warning about the actions of some individuals who, in his view, are making desperate efforts to link themselves to his reputation in a bid to enhance their political image.

“The goodwill I enjoy in Tano North is not accidental. It is the result of years of consistent, humble, and dedicated service, strongly backed by the support of Dr. Bawumia. The people of Tano North know this, and they appreciate it.”

Dr. Boako strongly reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to working tirelessly in support of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, emphasizing that his dedication goes beyond party politics and is rooted in a shared vision for the future of the NPP and Ghana as a whole.

He pledged to continue balancing this commitment with the diligent fulfillment of his parliamentary duties, ensuring that the people of Tano North are well-represented and their concerns addressed with utmost responsibility.

He further stressed that the ultimate focus must remain on fostering unity and collaboration within the NPP, as internal cohesion will be crucial for the party’s success in both the upcoming 2026 party primaries and the 2028 general elections.

According to him, a united front will not only secure victory for Dr. Bawumia but also position the party to deliver effective governance and sustainable development for the nation.

Confident Of Victory In Upcoming Primaries

Looking ahead, the Tano North MP expressed strong confidence that the hard work being put in by Dr. Bawumia and his supporters will pay off.

According to him, the overwhelming support shown in previous internal elections is a clear indication that the Vice President enjoys massive trust among party members and Ghanaians at large.

NPP flagbearer race
NPP urged to unite

“We will continue to work with all our energy for Dr. Bawumia, and come 31st January 2026, the results will once again speak for themselves.”

Dr. Gideon Boako

He urged party members to remain focused and avoid distractions, assuring them that victory is within reach if they maintain unity and determination.

The latest development highlights the ongoing power struggle within the NPP as the party prepares for its next flagbearer contest.

With the January 2026 primaries fast approaching, party leaders are expected to step up efforts to maintain cohesion and prevent internal disputes from undermining their electoral chances.
