Popular Ghanaian disc jockey and media personality DJ Slim has firmly dismissed viral reports claiming that businessman Ibrahim Mahama has stepped in to cover the hefty medical bills of actor John Peasah, popularly known as Drogba from the hit TV series YOLO.

The clarification comes after widespread social media posts and news reports suggested that the prominent entrepreneur and philanthropist had pledged to fund an estimated $88,000 surgery for the ailing actor.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel on April 28, 2026, DJ Slim stated categorically that no such financial support has been provided.

“I personally called Drogba to verify the claims,” DJ Slim revealed. “He told me that no such offer had come to him. Who would want to start this kind of conversation? This is fake news.”

John Peasah, best known for his role as the charismatic “lover boy” character Drogba (also called Blah Charles) in the popular youth television series YOLO, has been battling a serious demyelinatingdisease  a neurological condition that damages the protective covering of nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord.

Symptoms include severe pain, double vision, muscle weakness, balance issues, and difficulty performing basic daily tasks.

The actor’s condition reportedly worsened after the passing of his father in early 2026, who had been a major source of emotional support.

Over the past two to three years, Drogba has sought treatment at more than 12 hospitals with limited success. In mid-April 2026, he made an emotional public appeal for financial and moral support as his health continued to deteriorate, prompting colleagues from the YOLO cast to rally behind him with fundraising efforts.

The viral rumor of Ibrahim Mahama’s intervention gained traction around recently , with several posts and videos claiming the businessman had declared, “We shall not watch him die,” and committed to covering the full cost of life-saving surgery. These reports quickly spread across social media, raising hopes among fans and supporters.

However, DJ Slim stressed that the misinformation is doing more harm than good. He urged the public to ignore the false reports and focus on genuinely supporting the actor.

According to the DJ, Drogba remains hopeful that an appeal made to the Ibrahim Mahama Foundation might still yield positive results, but as of now, no assistance has materialized from that quarter.

Public Opinion

The debunking has sparked fresh conversations about the dangers of spreading unverified stories involving public figures and vulnerable individuals.

Many observers note that such fake news can slow down genuine donations and create false expectations for patients in need.

As the story continues to trend, calls are growing louder for well-meaning Ghanaians, corporate organizations, and philanthropists to come to Drogba’s aid.

Supporters are encouraged to verify information before sharing and to contribute directly through verified channels if possible.

Drogba’s colleagues and fans have expressed gratitude to those who have already shown support while appealing for more help to ease the actor’s suffering.

The YOLO star continues to fight his health battle with resilience, even as he deals with the emotional and financial toll of his condition.

DJ Slim’s intervention serves as a timely reminder of the importance of responsible reporting and fact-checking in the age of social media, especially when lives are at stake.

The project is available for donations through trusted avenues, and the entertainment industry continues to rally around one of its own in this difficult time.
