Kaaka’s murder suspects not my body guards- Ejura MCE

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejura Sekyedumasi, Mohammed Salisu Bamba

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejura Sekyedumasi, Mohammed Salisu Bamba, has intimated that the murder suspects are not his bodyguards.

Facing the ministerial committee today, July 8, 2021, he denied reports purporting that the two suspects, Ibrahim Issaka and Fuseini Alhassan who are in police custody in connection with the murder are close to him.

Mr. Bamba said although the suspects are members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), they are not his employees.

“Anyone who knows Ejura very well and our environment,;my house is a place that whenever any political head is coming to Ejura or anytime that there is any national activity,;the media can attest to that fact that my house is filled with a lot of people.

“The two gentlemen are our party [NPP] members and they are polling station executives. And as a chief executive and parliamentary candidate, definitely, I will have a relationship with all my party people.”

Mohammed Bamba

The MCE also told the three-member committee probing the disturbances that occurred in Ejura that;some faceless individuals are using the death of Kaaka for their parochial interests.

Angry protesters made me release bodies

Also facing the committee, Dr. Mensah Manye,;the Medical Superintendent of the Ejura Government Hospital,;said he released the bodies of casualties in the Ejura disturbances to angry protesters who stormed the facility to protect his life and that of his staff.

He explained that, upon hearing the news of the death of two protesters,;the youth massed up at the hospital and threatened to burn the facility if the bodies were not released to them immediately.

Dr. Manye stated that,;he wanted the bodies to be taken to the mortuary for autopsy due to the circumstances under which the persons died,;but the angry youth did not allow such procedure to take place.

“As usual, in things of this nature,;I advised that the bodies be kept for further investigation because as a doctor I had to take all the necessary precautions. So, after the death of the two, they said they want to take the bodies but I said no,;we don’t do that here and that we have measures we take before releasing such bodies,;but they said I was delaying their time.”

Dr. Manye

The Medical Superintendent further disclosed that he suggested the police be called to come in so the bodies will be taken to the mortuary for postmortem. However, he said the youth resisted saying they will burn down the hospital if he tried.

“They also threatened that they will beat us if we delayed them any further. So, I felt our lives were in danger,;so I also started calling but they also couldn’t come under that condition. Because of the agitation for the release of the body, I reluctantly released the bodies to prevent the bodies from being burnt and also save the lives of my staff and myself.”
