CD Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel Alameda has died at the age of 30 following a devastating collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during their Spanish Segunda División encounter on Monday, November 2, 2026.
The Spanish club confirmed the heartbreaking news on Tuesday morning, November 3, announcing that the forward died at 8:00 a.m. local time, less than 24 hours after sustaining serious injuries in the closing stages of the match at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium.
“Heartbroken, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe this is true, CD Tenerife announces the tragic death, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., of Jesús de Miguel Alameda,” the club stated in an emotional statement.
The announcement brings a tragic end to the uncertainty surrounding the player’s condition after he was rushed to hospital following the frightening incident. His death has sent shockwaves through Spanish football, with the Tenerife football community mourning the loss of a player whose life was cut short following an incident on the pitch.
Collision With Owono Forces Match Abandonment
The tragedy occurred in the seventh minute of stoppage time during Tenerife’s home fixture against FC Andorra, with the contest delicately poised at 2-2.

De Miguel was chasing a long ball as Tenerife attempted to launch a counterattack when Andorra goalkeeper Owono rushed out of his goal to intercept the ball. The goalkeeper’s challenge resulted in a violent collision with the striker, who immediately collapsed on the pitch and was left motionless.
Players from both teams quickly called for medical assistance, with several Tenerife teammates visibly distressed and some breaking down in tears as medical personnel attended to the injured forward.
Owono was shown a straight red card for the challenge, but the incident overshadowed the remainder of the contest. Referee Manuel Ángel Pérez Hernández eventually abandoned the match, with the score remaining 2-2, as De Miguel was taken from the stadium in an ambulance.
The 30-year-old was rushed to the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Tenerife, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.
Tenerife initially announced that their striker was in a stable condition despite the severity of his injuries, offering hope that he would recover from the frightening incident.
However, his condition subsequently deteriorated. The club reported early on Tuesday that his neurological condition had worsened, raising fresh concerns about his recovery before confirming his death a few hours later.
The sequence of events transformed what had initially been a frightening football incident into a devastating tragedy, leaving both clubs and supporters mourning the striker.
A Career Cut Short at 30
Born in Madrid on September 21, 1996, de Miguel had built his professional career through several levels of Spanish football before establishing himself as a reliable goalscorer.

He represented clubs including CF Fuenlabrada, AD Unión Adarve, CDA Navalcarnero and Unionistas de Salamanca before joining CD Castellón in 2023.
His two-season spell at Castellón proved particularly productive. He scored 16 goals during the 2023/24 Primera Federación campaign, helping the club secure promotion to Spain’s second division.
Tenerife secured his signature in July 2025 on a three-year contract, with the striker arriving after an impressive spell at Castellón. He scored 11 goals in 30 league appearances during his first season with the club, helping Tenerife win promotion back to the Segunda División.
His experience and goalscoring ability made him an important part of the Tenerife squad as he continued his career in Spanish professional football.
In the aftermath of his death, the club expressed solidarity with his grieving family, friends and supporters, acknowledging the profound sadness that has engulfed the Tenerife community.
“There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can lessen this overwhelming sadness. We stand with his grieving family, with his loved ones, with all of Tenerife who mourn this cruel loss today.”
