The club also conveyed the family’s appreciation for the numerous messages of sympathy received following the announcement, while requesting that their privacy be respected during this difficult period.

De Miguel had played an important role in Tenerife’s promotion to the Segunda División last season, having represented several clubs in Spain’s lower divisions before establishing himself with the Canary Islands outfit.
His contribution to the promotion campaign had made him part of a significant chapter in the club’s recent history, making his death an immense loss for Tenerife.
RFEF joins tributes to De Miguel
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) also joined the growing list of football institutions mourning the striker, expressing its deepest condolences to his relatives, friends and everyone associated with Tenerife.
“Spanish football mourns the loss of Jesús de Miguel. Devastated by the sad news, from the RFEF we wish to express our deepest sorrow for his passing today. We extend our most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones, as well as to Club Deportivo Tenerife and all its fans, whom we accompany in these moments of profound grief.”

Meanwhile, the circumstances surrounding the incident that preceded De Miguel’s death have attracted attention, with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono potentially facing a suspension of between four and eight matches following his collision with the Tenerife forward.

The possible disciplinary action adds another dimension to the incident, although any decision regarding Owono’s punishment remains separate from the tributes being paid to the deceased striker.
UEFA’s decision to observe a minute of silence at its Champions League, Europa League and Conference League fixtures this week will ensure that De Miguel is remembered across European football, as clubs, players and supporters join his family and Tenerife in mourning his passing.
Arsenal and Real Madrid held a minute of silence in honour of de Miguel before their respective training sessions ahead of Champions League ties against Slavia Prague and AEK Athens respectively.
