Joining the hype in anticipation of the football match between Ghana and Nigeria, John Dumelo, has vowed to walk barefoot tomorrow morning, March 26, 2022, if Super Eagles win.
John Dumelo in a twitter wrote, “There’s no way Nigeria will win today’s match. If they do, I, John Setor Dumelo, will walk barefoot from Accra to Lagos tomorrow morning with my ginger on my head! Super Eagles, my foot!”
John Dumelo’s stance on Twitter sparked interesting conversations where most believe he has placed himself in a “tight corner”. According to them, he will regret making such a vow.
Other Industry Players React
John Dumelo is not the only Ghanaian industry players who has shared his thoughts about the upcoming match as several others have predicted a win for Ghana ahead of the game. Wendy Shay for instance predicted a 2-1 win against Nigeria.
Popular Ghanaian musician and songwriter, Kofi Kinaata reacted to Ghana’s 27-man team for the 2022 World Cup play-off against the Super Eagles of Nigeria. In a post by the artiste on his official Twitter account, he shared a poster that had a list of players to compete in the game while captioning the photo clinched hand and a ‘cool man’ emoji.
Afropop artiste Obibini Takyi Junior (OTJ) predicted a win for the Black stars ahead of the first leg of Ghana versus Nigeria World Cup Qualifiers. The singer believes the scoreline would be 2-1 against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
“I follow football, and I know what I’m talking about when I say that Ghana will win 2:1 against Nigeria”, OTJ said.
He, however, cautioned Ghanaians to be wary of staking bet ahead of the game. According to him, people risk losing a lot of money if they bet irresponsibly.
Nana Aba Anamoah also took the opportunity presented by the match to revive the debate on the Ghana Nigeria Jollof.

Black Stars 27-man Team
On March 22, 2022, Black Stars coach, Otto Addo, announced a 27-man team for the 2022 World Cup play-off. The squad unsurprisingly has usual players such as Thomas Partey, Daniel Amartey, Alexander Djiku, Daniel Kofi Kyereh. The team has four goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders, four wingers, and four strikers. There are also some new faces with Dennis Odoi and Felix Afena-Gyan leading pack.
Meanwhile, Ghanaians on social media have complained about Jordan Ayew’s call-up to the Black Stars squad for the World Cup playoff. Many cannot comprehend why the striker has been included in the 27-man squad, despite reports of him testing positive for COVID-19 few days ago.
