Ghanaian singer, Barma Sidney, has revealed that he will be releasing a song that will shake the country.

Barima Sidney, known for his controversial songs that criticize those in power, in an interview noted that the message in his yet-to-be-released song, ‘Power’, will stun Ghanaians and especially the leaders. Therefore, his fans and all Ghanaians should get ready for him.

“I’ll shortly release a current-events tune. As usual it is controversial. ‘Power’ comes out in August. That music will shake everywhere”.

Sidney

Speaking about the current government, Barima Sidney encouraged the NPP government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to go outside the box to fix the economy. According to him, Ghana isn’t the only country suffering from the Russia-Ukraine war, however, he believes politicians aren’t thinking creatively to help fix the economic situation.

“Ghana’s economic woes aren’t unique. Everybody suffers globally. If your fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you, and that’s what’s happening in Ghana”.

Barima Sidney touching on elections advised Ghanaians to evaluate living conditions before voting.

“I can’t recommend NPP or NDC to Ghanaians in 2024,” Barima said, and added that “vote based on how you live. I’m not static, I don’t belong to any political party, and I can speak up if things are wrong”.

Well, releasing a song to criticize the government could serve a good purpose however, sometimes, there will be some people in power who will not be ready to take the criticism.

It can be recalled that in 2020, Barima Sidney was forced to shelve the release of the video for his banger, ‘Papa No’ after facing a legal hurdle.

Barima Sidney was scheduled to release the video on Thursday, September 3, 2020, but stopped after an individual, Abdul Ganui Issaka, filed a suit at an Accra High Court seeking an injunction against it.

The application, filed at an Accra High Court, sought to restrain Barima Sidney and his Squadie Entertainment from releasing the video to media outlets. The suit also sought to restrain the premiere or promotion of the video.

Barima Sidney at that time disclosed that he was down and disturbed because of the suit.

“I told my fans to expect the music video of ‘Papa No’, but that cannot happen anymore because of the court injunction. We will definitely release it but the time is not certain at the moment. Any delay will affect the music video and from the look of things, I am afraid that is what is going to happen”.

According to Sidney, he had planned to release the video because he had not received any official letter but he stopped on the advice of his lawyers.

“I just saw the suit on social media but I ignored it because I had not been served by anyone but my lawyers told me we should hold on and see what happens. The music video will definitely be released but as of now, we cannot tell when”.

Sidney

The ‘Papa No’ term became popular after a social media feud between actress, Tracey Boakye, and musician, Mzbel over a certain unidentified man. Tracey referred to the unnamed man as ‘Papa No’ in her videos during the fight and it became a trend.

Sidney noticing this, capitalized on the trend and released the song, ‘Papa No’. On the song, he asks who knows the ‘Papa No’ and sings that “‘Papa No’ doesn’t have any preferences and will sleep with anyone in skirts”.
