At the 2025 Africa Prosperity Dialogue (APD) held at the Accra International Conference Centre, Telecel Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to empowering female entrepreneurs through its Women in Business (WIB) package.
Speaking on the topic ‘Scaling Your Business Through Strategic Technology Investment,’ Elsie Mensah, Telecel Ghana’s Brand and Marketing Communication Manager, highlighted how the WIB initiative is driving business growth for women-led enterprises. The package, which offers a combination of financial assistance, insurance benefits, and digital support, is designed to provide a holistic approach to business sustainability and expansion for women in Ghana.
One of the key benefits of the WIB package is its financial assistance component, which has significantly enhanced access to business funding for women. Through strategic partnerships with Fido and Absa Bank, Telecel Ghana has facilitated business loans ranging from GHC10,000 to GHC10 million, enabling female entrepreneurs to expand operations, invest in new technology, and scale their businesses.
Many women-led businesses often struggle with limited access to financing due to stringent collateral requirements; however, the WIB initiative bridges this gap by offering flexible loan options tailored to the specific needs of female entrepreneurs.
Beyond financial aid, the package also includes insurance benefits aimed at mitigating business risks and fostering long-term sustainability. Telecel Ghana has partnered with Hollard and Turaco to provide discounted insurance packages between 5% and 25% below market rates. These affordable and comprehensive insurance solutions ensure that women-led businesses are protected against unforeseen financial setbacks, safeguarding their investments and operational stability.
Digital and Technological Empowerment
Understanding the importance of digital presence in today’s business environment, Telecel Ghana’s WIB package goes beyond financial assistance by offering digital support to female entrepreneurs. Elsie Mensah revealed that businesses enrolled in the package will receive a free website after six months of partnership with Telecel Ghana. This initiative seeks to enhance the online visibility of women-led businesses, allowing them to reach a broader customer base, boost sales, and remain competitive in the digital economy.
Additionally, WIB participants earn bonus loyalty points, which can be redeemed for exclusive rewards and discounts. These incentives are aimed at encouraging continuous engagement with the program, promoting long-term partnerships between female entrepreneurs and Telecel Ghana. The initiative’s combination of financial, insurance, and digital support underscores Telecel Ghana’s commitment to fostering an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem where women can thrive.
Telecel Ghana’s Women in Business package is a game-changer for female entrepreneurship in Ghana, offering a multi-faceted approach to business growth, financial stability, and technological advancement. By addressing key challenges such as limited access to financing, business risks, and digital transformation, the initiative is positioning women-led enterprises for sustained success.
The APD 2025 conference served as an important platform for highlighting how strategic investments in technology can drive business expansion. Through initiatives like the WIB package, Telecel Ghana is not only supporting female entrepreneurs but also contributing to Ghana’s broader economic development by fostering inclusive growth and innovation in the SME sector. As more women take advantage of these opportunities, the future of female entrepreneurship in Ghana looks increasingly promising.
