The Promise of Sanlam Allianz Life Insurance to Revolutionize the Insurance Industry in Ghana

Mr. Tawiah Ben-Ahmed, the CEO and Managing Director of Sanlam Allianz Life Insurance Ghana.

The insurance industry in Ghana is poised for a transformative shift with the merger of two global giants, Sanlam and Allianz Insurance.

This merger, which has birthed Sanlam Allianz Life Insurance Ghana, is set to revolutionize the industry, not just in Ghana but across the African continent. The CEO and Managing Director of Sanlam Allianz Life Insurance Ghana, Mr. Tawiah Ben-Ahmed, has articulated a bold vision that promises to redefine insurance services and customer experience in the country.

Sanlam Allianz Life Insurance Ghana enters the market with the combined strength of two well-established entities. Allianz has over a century of experience in providing insurance services globally, while Sanlam has also spent 100 years delivering insurance solutions across Africa. This rich heritage of expertise is the bedrock upon which Sanlam Allianz is building its operations in Ghana. The merger has created a powerful synergy, combining the best practices, innovations, and customer service strategies from both companies.

“The good thing about this merger is that Allianz has over 100 years of providing insurance services, and Sanlam also has 100 years of providing insurance in Africa. The combined experience of these two entities is what is driving Sanlam Allianz in Ghana,” said Mr. Tawiah Ben-Ahmed. He added that the company’s 80 subsidiaries contribute to a collective expertise that is unmatched in the industry, positioning Sanlam Allianz to offer comprehensive insurance solutions tailored to the unique needs of Ghanaians.

One of the key promises of the Sanlam Allianz brand is to deliver a service experience that is unparalleled in the insurance industry. According to Mr. Tawiah Ben-Ahmed, the company’s focus is not just on providing insurance products but also on ensuring that the service experience is one that customers will admire and appreciate.

“It is important to us at Sanlam Allianz that we build capacity, systems, technology, and everything to make sure that beyond the product we offer to you, we are backing it with a service experience that you will admire,” he emphasized. This commitment to service excellence is aimed at instilling confidence in customers and enhancing their trust in insurance as a critical financial tool.

A key aspect of this service promise is the prompt payment of claims. Mr. Tawiah Ben-Ahmed stressed that claims payment is not just a business obligation for Sanlam Allianz but a crucial part of the customer experience. “We plan to make sure that all our customers experience our superior client service culture and that claims payment is just our business, but we will go further to ensure your experience with Sanlam Allianz leaves you with confidence in insurance that you probably may not have had,” he explained.

Addressing the Insurance Penetration Challenge

Despite the evident benefits of insurance, Ghana continues to struggle with low insurance penetration. The National Insurance Commission’s report for 2023 indicates that insurance penetration in the country stands at a mere 1.07%.

However, the report also highlights that insurance companies pay out GHC 8.9 million in claims every day. This discrepancy underscores the need for greater awareness and accessibility of insurance products among the Ghanaian population.

Mr. Tawiah Ben-Ahmed pointed out that this is a critical area where Sanlam Allianz aims to make a significant impact.

“Insurance is more than just a financial product; it’s a lifeline that can protect you and your loved ones from financial hardship. Whether it’s your home, your business, or your life, having adequate insurance coverage can be the difference between a quick recovery and enduring financial stress.”

Mr. Tawiah Ben-Ahmed

The company aims to not only provide exceptional service to its current clients but also to expand its reach and ensure that more Ghanaians are protected. “Our purpose is to empower generations to be financially confident, secure, and prosperous with the vision to ensure that we deliver the most admired services to Ghanaians with a brand promise to live with confidence.”

In his concluding remarks, Tawiah Ben-Ahmed encouraged individuals and businesses to take proactive steps in securing their futures by investing in comprehensive insurance coverage. “At SanlamAllianz, we believe in the power of insurance to transform lives. We are here to provide you with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that your assets, your life, and your loved ones are protected,” he said.

Mr. Ben-Ahmed said SanlamAllianz has exciting insurance products such as the Family Love policy, and Income Protection policy, among others, all designed to make insurance more attractive and accessible to the Ghanaian public.
