Veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle has praised his ex-wife Ireti Doyle, calling her a “first-class mother.”
Patrick expressed that he holds no resentment towards Ireti following their divorce.
The 63-year-old actor also addressed a 2018 Facebook post, which some interpreted as an apology to Ireti.
“Ireti is a first-class mother and provider for her children. She is taking good care of my daughter. How can I wish her ill? As far as mothers go, they don’t come any better. She provides 360 mothering care.”

Patrick explained that he intended to address any tensions that might have been present and to foster stability at home, acknowledging the responsibility of maintaining harmony.
“As she told you, she was happiest with me. If I am not true to myself, then I am an agbaya. My mother, my sisters, and my late wife didn’t shade anybody; they positively impacted me.
“When something didn’t make me happy, why should I remember that fondly? The outcome of our marriage wasn’t pleasant. So why should I lie?”
Patrick Doyle
“As a man, it is my duty to say you don’t look happy. Responsibility for the stability of the home is that of the head of the home. So that was a bid to ease whatever the tensions were at the time,” he said further.
It can be recalled that Patrick and Ireti married in 2004, and their divorce was confirmed by the actress in 2023.
Ireti Doyle, in a social media post, officially announced that she had divorced her husband, but she is still keeping his name because she had spent years building her brand on it.
Patrick has since moved on from the actress and is now married to a media personality, Funmi Iyanda.
Reacting to the interview, many questioned why the media mogul was shuttering, as others quizzed if he was alright.
“When men start stuttering like this, his lie is likely to set in.”

Veteran Actor Clarifies a Post Speculated To Be ‘a dig’
Patrick Doyle addressed the speculation surrounding his 2023 birthday post dedicated to his wife, Funmilayo, where he stated that he had never been happier. He has now clarified that the post was not a dig at anyone.
Doyle opened up about the issue and firmly stated that his message, which expressed unprecedented happiness with his wife, was not intended to be a dig at someone.
“I’ve never been happier in my life than with Funmilayo, and I say it with all responsibility. That statement was not just about someone who was in love; it was something that I really meant.
“Do I not look like a happy man? Do I look my age? Am I not looking radiant? Have I looked this radiant in living memory? I’m a very happy man and I have never been happier in my life.”
Patrick Doyle
Doyle expressed frustration over suggestions that his post was meant as a slight towards someone else.
“For anyone to deem it a slight on another human being, that person must be very low on the food chain of humanity. How can you quarrel with a man’s happiness? Did I ever announce to you at a point that I was unhappy?
“I simply said I’ve never been this happy. This means that I am at my happiest now; my past has been happy and now my present is happier and my future is going to even be happier.”
Patrick Doyle
He further questioned how his current happiness could be misconstrued as a negative reflection of his past or others.“I wonder how anybody would have thought that it was a slight on anybody,” he said
