Nigerian Afrobeats powerhouse, Asake has finally broken his silence about the face tattoos that sent social media into a frenzy, offering a candid explanation during his appearance at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
The “Mr Money” hitmaker, who burst onto the music scene in 2022, sparked intense public debate when he emerged from a brief hiatus sporting extensive facial ink as well as a new haircut.
The dramatic transformation initially triggered widespread concern among his fanbase, with social media platforms buzzing with speculation about the motivations behind such a radical change.
However, speaking on the Grammy Awards red carpet, Asake revealed that his new look stems from a deeply personal place of self-expression.
Asake addressed the swirling controversy. “This is how I feel now,” he explained.
“I love to feel comfortable with myself, I love to do the things I feel like is good for me. It is not even about anybody.”

In a statement that perhaps best captures his fluid approach, he added, “I might wake up tomorrow and you guys might not see any tattoos again.”
Asake marked a significant milestone in his career, as he earned his first Grammy nomination in the Best African Music Performance category with his unforgettable collaboration with Olamide titled ‘New Religion.’
The nod came for “MMS,” his dynamic collaboration with fellow Nigerian superstar Wizkid.
His debut album, ‘Mr. Money with the Vibe’, topped the charts and solidified his place in the industry. He followed up with ‘Work of Art’ in 2023, further cementing his reputation with hit songs like ‘Lonely at the Top’.
His recent album ‘Lungu Boy’ has further showcased his evolution as an artist, featuring a fusion of new sounds and deep storytelling.
Although he didn’t win the Grammy, Asake was grateful and joyful for the recognition he received. He shared his feelings about being part of the prestigious event and performing with other great African music stars.
Asake Shows Off Alleged House in California

The Nigerian music sensation set social media abuzz after sharing glimpses of his alleged mansion in California, USA.
The Grammy-nominated artist, who is reportedly no longer signed to Olamide’s YBNL record label, took to his Instagram stories to showcase the luxurious home.
The images and videos displayed a sleek grey-colored building with a spacious garage housing a Tesla Cybertruck.
Additionally, the property featured a well-maintained basketball court with scattered balls, suggesting a recent game session.
In another clip, Asake was spotted engaging in a workout session, lifting weights in his yard before later enjoying a game of basketball with an unidentified individual.
As the photos and videos circulated online, fans and social media users expressed a mix of admiration and skepticism.
While many applauded Asake’s success and growth in the entertainment industry, others questioned whether the lavish property truly belonged to him.

“Why are you lying and setting him up for drags? This is clearly a rental. Why are you bloggers like this? Ogun kee ur mama!! Do you know how much he would have to pay in property tax alone if it were his house? Who buys a home in California when he actually doesn’t live in the US? It would have rather been more plausible and believable if you said the house was in TEXAS.”
