Nigerian superstar Davido keeps making strides in the international market as he made his debut performance on the popular American Jimmy Kimmel Live show.
The virtual performance saw Davido performing a medley comprising of his smash hit ‘Assurance’ off his 2019 ‘A Good Time’ album, and ‘Jowo’ which features on his 2020 album ‘A better Time’. The artist was also supported by the talented Nigerian music band, ‘The Cavemen’. Naturally, Davido delivered a stellar performance with the luxe aesthetic to match. Davido created a vibrant at home performance with the five piece live band, two lady backers and a hype man. The bright colored backdrops matched the happy, upbeat love songs ‘Assurance’ and ‘Jowo’.

It can be recalled that recently, Davido performed ‘D&G’ and ‘Fall’ off his album ‘A Good Time’ with his band, Alternate Sounds on ‘The Tonight Show’ with Jimmy Fallon. This was also a virtual performance which was shot in Lagos, Nigeria.
It is worth mentioning that, A number of popular American television shows have, in the past, hosted several African talents including the likes of Burna Boy (The Daily Show with Trevor Noah), Rema (Jimmy Kimmel Live Show), and Sho Madjozi(The Kelly Clarkson Show), Tiwa Savage (The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon), among others. Meanwhile Ghana is yet to see some of its A-list artists perform on such international stages.
Speaking of debut performances on International stages, it is worth noting that Nigerian musician, Burna Boy will be performing in this year’s Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony on March 14, 2021. Burna Boy is slated to perform among other Grammy Nominees including Camilo, Afro-Peruvian Jazz Orchestra among others.
Aside his performance that night, there are high hopes of him grabbing an award as he has been nominated for the Best Global Music Album Award category for his album, ‘Twice As Tall’.
This will be the second Grammy nomination he has received for the same category. His first nomination was in 2020 when his album ‘African Giant’ was nominated for Best World Music Album.
