Davido Shares Journey of Success After School

Davido

Grammy-nominated singer, Davido recently spoke at the 2024 LAS annual summit, where he shared the journey of success after finishing school.

He said, the topic “Life after school” resonated deeply with him, attributing his success in the music industry to the choices he made after graduating from Babcock University.

Davido explained that he took a break from school to pursue his music career, which ultimately led to his success.

“I relate a lot to this topic because I’m living proof of the successful person after school. Let me share my experience. So I went into the entertainment world after school, but I do have friends, siblings, and a father with a company. We even have a school, Adeleke University, where students graduate, and we have companies that recruit students after they finish.”

Davido

He noted that his family allowed him to choose his path and encouraged him, unlike his siblings who followed more traditional routes.

“I did school for about five years because I had to take a break because of my music. People go to school for four, five, or six years, and some people study law, and after school life starts.

“I have been blessed to have followed my dream. I come from a family where you go to school and after you go directly to work. Either you work for my dad or you work elsewhere; I was the one who went another route from my siblings.”

The singer emphasized that success comes at different times for different people, citing examples of friends and siblings who achieved success quickly, while others worked their way up over time.

The “Unavailable” hitmaker revealed that he didn’t go through the usual corporate job application process [submitting CVs] his family expected.

He stated that his brother works in [ their father’s] company’s recruitment department, where he reviews CVs and hires graduates. “Many of whom come from Adeleke University and I’ve seen how young people detail their CVs,” he added.

The 2024 Grammy-nominated singer also underscored the importance of setting goals and being driven.

“Even in my own company, we have a management division where we handle administration and other areas like school and business management. This aligns with what I studied as a minor in school, business management.

“But having a clear plan, a goal, and the drive to pursue it is vital in life. Whether it’s music, business, politics, or any field, you must have the drive, passion, and commitment to excel.”

Davido

The 31-year-old music star called for more educational initiatives, stating, “We need more gatherings like this, not just in Lagos but across Nigeria. Let’s keep pushing forward.”

Nasty Blaq Condemns Disrespect Of Davido

Popular Nigerian skit maker, Nasty Blaq, expressed his dismay over the increasing online criticism directed toward award-winning singer, Davido.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Blaq stated that the singer and DMW record label founder has been receiving an excessive level of “disrespect” from social media users.

In his post, Nasty Blaq shared concerns that Davido’s generosity was being exploited.

“The disrespect Davido is getting is way too much sha. Man just wants to help people, and that’s all.”

The skit maker’s comments followed an online call-out by content creator, Korty EO, who accused Davido and his team of instructing her not to release an interview video she filmed with the singer.

According to Korty, Davido’s team initially granted her permission to post the interview but later requested that she refrain from sharing it without providing clear reasons.

Korty expressed frustration on her X handle.

“They [Davido’s team] agreed that I should re-edit this video and now have said I must not post the video for reasons I still don’t understand. I am not scared of anyone, but I am wise enough to stay out of battles I’m not equipped for.”

Korty EO

Korty’s statements also reflected a trend of artists retracting their approval for interviews. “I’ve filmed so many artists who eventually tell me not to post the video,” she said, adding, “If you don’t want people to see you for who you are, please do not come on my show. Stop wasting my time.”
