Gospel musician, Empress Gifty has revealed how the creation of her new song ‘Watch Me’ started.

She narrated that she had received a prophecy about her latest song early this year, adding that her prophet had foretold her ‘Watch Me’ was going to “blow her away” months before the song was composed.

“I think in February, my prophet, Prophet Eric Boahen called me, and then he said, ‘Empress, I know you are done with your album, but there’s this song that is coming up, and that song will blow you away’ and I said I’m done with my songs, I’m okay.

“But he said he was saying what he had seen in the spirit and I said okay, so I tapped into it and I received it.”

According to her, after her ‘Trec’ concert in April, she received a call from musician Kuami Eugene about a song he wants them to work on.

“So, in April we did Trec and after Trec, I said I have to release this song. After Trec, Kuami Eugene called me and said Empress I have this song for you and the message is for you. So, I asked him to send it to me and I started listening. Then I started reflecting and said this is the song (Prophet Boahen spoke about).”

Empress Gifty noted she called her Prophet after listening to the song and told him about the song. He responded; “I told you. Don’t joke with that word, just pray on it and work on the song.”

Empress Gifty released ‘Watch Me’ her first single for 2024 on September 8.

In a post on social media, she noted that when all hope is lost and things are not going as expected, one should never give up because God is up to something GREAT.

Musician Defends Her Bold Personality

Empress Gifty fiercely defended her unconventional style and personality in response to critics who believed her behavior was unbecoming of a gospel artist.

Empress Gifty addressed questions about her tight-fitting outfits, unsolicited advice, and even twerking on social media.

The gospel artist was also quizzed whether her husband approves of her online presence, to which she responded that she refuses to be put in a box or fake her identity for the sake of appearance.

“I am being who I am. I don’t want to pretend and go and snatch someone’s husband… I just want to be Empress Gifty. I don’t want to fake it. I don’t want to see you and smile when I know I don’t like you. I make sure I get good energy around me, so if you don’t like my energy, then you’re a suspect.”

She noted, emphasizing that she won’t conform to traditional expectations or compromise her authenticity as a woman of God.

“If you love me, you love everything about me,” she added, making it clear that she embraces her unique energy and won’t change to suit others’ opinions.

Known for her free-spirited personality and stylish wardrobe, Empress Gifty often defies the modesty typically associated with gospel artists.

When asked about her preference for tight-fitting clothes, Empress responded, “Are gospel musicians supposed to dress in a certain way?” She explained that her wardrobe is curated by brands she collaborates with, emphasizing her desire not to conform to stereotypes.

Responding to twerking on social media, the gospel musician disclosed that she doesn’t recall twerking, stating that if one only sees her bum when walking, it’s their problem and a sin.

“Even if you see me dancing online, what song was I dancing to? Is it gospel or secular music? If it’s gospel, then what is their problem,” she said.
